i don't think it meets the cahllenge. It's supposed to be animals, not bugs.

more DOF required. What little detail there is, is blurred or soft.

The DoF is too shallow here. Too much of this photo is out of focus to allow your eyes to comfortably take in the entire shot.

The minute depth of field, whilst isolating the beetle , doesn't really keep enough in focus. Although there is detail in the dark area, it is quite hard to view.
