Post-challenge: Thanks for all the kind comments and votes ... I'm stoked to be among the Top 50 in this challenge, with so many awesome entries. Re: the center crop, mexico captured my thinking on this precisely. Next step: learn how to clone out sensor dust and [big gulp] clean my sensor (Camera was just a month old when this shot was taken).

Congrats on your high finish dennis. I was actually going to submit a seagull with a reflection similar to this one.

I really like the use of negative space here and the reflection is great. The wake behind the bird is also a great touch and I think adds some forward motion to the pic, if that makes sense. I do however see some dirt or something that looks like you may have image dust or something that could be easily fixed. Nice job! Good luck with the challenge!!!

One of my favorites in this challenge. I love the blue background and that his reflection is so clear. Amazing!

Beautiful. I see one bit of sensor snot that could have been nuked, but otherwise a beautiful capture. 8.

Nice capture though I feel breaking the rule of 'space in front' and cropping a bit off the left would make the image more dynamic as the bird would be more off center.

I love the simplicity of this...check out CUTTER's profile and you will find a square cropped image that will turn your lights on! This one is great...what a pity they only give us 640 pixels...8

nice, but the dust spot is a little distracting.

Lovely shot of this wader. I would have preferred an off centre shot, but which way, I'm not sure. If the bird was on the right leaving space to move into you would have lost the disturbance of the water from its movement. On the left it would have had little space to move into. I can see why you centered it at the end of the day! Nice shot...

Awesome picture! I think a square crop would have been better.

The clarity and color are great. The center composition feels a little awkward to me since there are ripples on one side and not the other. Think I would like a different crop better.

Lovely and crisp - Just wish the dust mark had been removed as it's quite distracting because the rest of the picture is so perfect. Well done.

Nice black-necked stilt. A tighter cropping might even be better. Van
