This is a very sharp photo of an owl (just curious, is an eagle owl and great horned owl the same thing, because I'm pretty sure this is a great horned owl?) The eye color doesn't work for me, though. 6.

Nice tones. Not sure if the selective colour on the eyes was really necessary. Makes it look less natural.

Lovely picture. Would be interesting to see the eyes slightly more subtle in a rich yellow or orange.

So wonderful is the b/w in this image that I think I would have preferred it entirely b/w. Incredible clarity and detail

Nicely captured. Very sharp and crisp. Not a big fan of the processing and would have preferred to seen the entire image in colour. Good Luck.

Whilst there's always a fun aspect to selective de-sat, I have to say I dislike almost all uses of the technique: it makes your image more about your processing than your photography. The sheer weirdness of the stand-out eyes in a black and white image immediately distracts from consideration of your capture of the subject.

fantastic shot, nice selective colouring!

I am not so sure I like the selective desaturation in this. I would love to see the colours of the owl. The photo is so clear and detailed but I think just leaving the eyes in colour takes it down a notch or two.

Great owl shot and the desat is done perfectly even if I don't like it. (It could be just that the eye colour seems wrong or there's not enough contrast in the rest of the image to balance the strong colour)

Eek - I don;t want to meet him on a dark night. I dont know if I like the coloring job here, it certainly is striking and those eyes are piercing. Maybe Mr Owl would look as fierce with his natural colors? or a toned down eye? Maybe i'm just too rightbrained for this. Technically it the flawless, sharp, perfect DOF, composition, compelling, I can't stop looking at him.

I don't like the color in it's eyes - great detail and clarity but the red eyes really hurt the shot, IMO.
