I'm lucky to even have an entry this week. My first model was a no-show. My second choice didn't have time. No problem... I'll just shoot my daughter again. As I was setting up the lights, she was playing in another room and broke her arm (tip: rocking chairs don't belong on the bed).

This is my son and it was well past his bedtime, so he was in overdrive. The calm expression you see was a freak shot captured in the midst of his Tasmanian Devil act. I was playing with a new wireless remote trigger for my Alien Bees lights, and for some reason the light on the right side didn't fire. So this lighting was accidental, with just a brolly box in front and a reflector in my free hand.

The saga continued when it dawned on me that this was Tuesday- as I was sitting at the airport on a business trip. Doh! That forced me to do all the editing on a laptop at 30,000 feet. I arrived at my hotel just before 11pm... barely enough time to write this and submit. Whew!

I always enjoy coming back to find your shots after a challenge has ended, even with such a simple shot, the photographers notes are still interesting! This was one of my top picks in the challenge... it's fantastic (even if it was accidental)! :)

What a saga of the endeavors to get this one taken as well as sumitted!
And your daughter broke her arm as a result of your selfish desires??
Just kidding Shannon - sheesh you go to some lengths...

I can't believe this didn't add another ribbon to your collection! This one stood out and made me keep thinking about it even long after I'd voted!

What a flawless face!

Brilliant lighting, composition. I love this photo. The only thing that stops me giving this a 10 is I find the sleeve on the left arm (right in the image) a touch too close to the mouth and a bit distracting. You've done a fantastic job here. 9

VERY cute! Focus and tonal range right on the button I would crop it in on the left all the way to the lip of the cuff. - 9

Ok, there is a raging debte about people's voting habits at the moment, so i will attempt to give a detailed comment with my vote:

good lighting. good use of DOF. good title that goes with the image. Nice focus on the eyes. composition isn't bad either. 7

Ohmy!!! What refreshing beauty! A refreshing adorable face for sure, photographed to absolute perfection, but also refreshing talent in this surprisingly weak challenge! I will be disappointed if this one is not one of the top 3! 10!! (only my 2nd one given today)

A great idea to give him some "business" to do with his hands.

The hat and arms make a nice natural frame and combined with the out of focus background, really allow the eyes to stand out. 8.

Nice sharp focus on the eyes. Lovely lighting and b&w treatment. Nice out of focus, non-distracting background. Cute pose. Well done.

Nice portrait!, if only you focussed on it's face and not on the cap since the cap is much sharper than the face.

I love this composition and how his hands make a frame w/in the frame. Excellent tones! Thanks!
