Something's coming out of that egg, but I'm not sure what.

I'd always wondered how my shot "Glowing" would've done in a challenge, and Life seemed like a good opportunity to try it:

I cut a small hole in one side of an egg, drained it, and washed it out. Next, I smashed it up.

Then I turned off all the lights and held a small flashlight against the right side of the egg. The flashlight's case is blue, and its bright face was hidden by the egg, so you can't see it over there to the right.

Finally, I took my daughter's fiber optic lamp (yes, the same one that I keep using) and poked a few strands through the drain hole in the back.

I think the result still looks cool, but I must admit I like Glowing better.

I gave this a 9! I just loved how it visually captured the "mystery" of life. I really admire your concept and the work that you put into it to make it happen.

No shadows from anything emerging, unless we're talking about oxygen... Nice photo, though.

Really nifty idea. If I step back a bit this is super-cool ... it loses a bit up close because of either noise, resolution, or processing - I can't quite tell. 6

i like this picture however i would have liked to see something actually emerging from here... like maybe a woody or something..lol.. that would have added some humor to the pictuer since we are celebrating life...

Nice concept. I would have liked it better without the hand holding it.

Good idea, exactly the right lighting. Creativity gives this one an extra point.

I think I would like it more if it did not have the blue lights. Other than that, nice idea.

Love the egg and the cracks and the soft light. Not so much of a fan of the blue bits.

wow, great lighting effect, with the backlit shell. I think I'd prefer to see a more complete shell with a real 'exit' rather than this that looks like it has been stuck back together
