This was my second choice for the challenge. My first choice was to shoot a Texas Longhorn with the hopes of capturing it in a nice looking landscape to compete against the sea of other landscape shots I expected would be in this challenge. Well when that failed I was stuck with this idea which I had for a while. I think this captures the spirit of Texas perfectly however, I don't think this has enough wow factor to do well.

*Post*

Not a bad result given the incredibly stiff competition. Thanks everyone for the votes and comments. My average climbed over 6 for the first time. Woot. Btw, the print version isn't so heavily sharpened.

This would make a great postcard! It would also have been a great photo for the perspective challenge. Though this statue is at least a block away from the capitol building, and of course, not nearly so tall, it looks like the cowboy is holding the hat over the building. I like the lighting on the hat and that you managed to have the statue and the building all so clearly in focus. Great shot! 10

Nice juxtaposition over the capitol, fitting for Texas and a postcard. Great idea and execution.

it's nice of that man to hold his hat up to keep that lady out of the rain. At this low res she feels a little soft - but I'm going to guess she's razor sharp in your original image.

Nice work, it looks like a postcard. If this is your original design, congrats on great work. If it's a copy of an existing postcard, good work there too.
