You definitely took a risk with that border, I like it, but at the same time I can see how a large part of the voters will take 1-2 points off. Shot is nice, love the lighting. Background is also a nice fit, good job, would have given it an 8.

the border seems to take away from the photo

Yeah, Really simple and one of a kind. I'm not opposed to the border but it is too plain and does little to adequately frame the composition. Good luck on your original entry.

I like the hat and the overall simplicity of the image. The lack border area is a bit too large and overpowering for me, yet on the other hand provides a nice balance. Bumping up after second look.

I love the way you've framed this! Hope you're not being hit too hard by the border police, because I think it was an ideal choice for it. Great image, great subject, good luck! :)

What a huge border lol, I think it doesn't do the image good.
I think it would be a lot better without such a distractive border.

Interesting choice of frame! I believe that this is the largest frame I have ever seen used on DPC, but IMHO it also works in your favor for this photo. This hat seems a bit stark in color & geometry, therefore the frame seems to balance the weight...at it does to me! Much success to you! :)

I really like the blue background...sets off the white hat.

I don't expect that the DPC voting will treat this kindly, but it's one of my favorites from this challenge. You'll probably get lots of negative comments on the wide border, but I think it really makes it work well. The lighting is very subtle, very beautiful.

Interesting. Artfully done but I sense a tad bit of flatness in the lighting/color. I wish his body and the background were a smidge more intense, OR it were black and white. Then you could really have some POP with the highlight of the hat. I like the diatonal line of it.

WHY so small??? This is a stunning photo, and it could have had so much more impact if it popped up on the screen BIGGER.
