this was done with a bracket of 5 images, combined in photomatix, then tone mapped. in photoshop created a new high pass layer blended with hardlight. some dodging and burning and basic brightness and contrast corrections. made new layer-channel mixer(monochrome) and messed with that, then bring down the opacity of that layer to bring back some subtle color. strong usm

Great post-processing here--especially within Advanced rules. I've seen how this is done on other web sites, but could you edit your comments for this image and post your specific steps?

nice job doing the cartoony effect.

I like it. It's definitely different, but very artistic. I'm afraid it may be voted down, but I like the creativity of it.

Very cool! You've taken an ordinary shot and made it really amazing - Nicely done!

Given the subject and setting, the posterized look probably is a good idea. But I'd prefer the truck isolated against a nicer background like the sky, with a more natural tone mapping.

I dont know, for my taste it´s a bit overdone, okey, it is personal taste, but just not mine.

The HDR really give this a much more of a graphic art feel. I do love how it really brings out a lot of the minor details of the photo and without making the photo to busy. Very nice!

I hope you explain how this this done. I finally learned that the technique is HDR, now I realise there are a lot of settings to play with as well. Best of the group I say.

This one musn't have started off as a terribly thrilling photo. The work you've done here has made it quite interesting. Some may say a bit overworked for the challenge but nice work none-the-less.

To me this has a cartoony feel to it. It is very surrealistic.

Very nice shot. The chevy looks "cartoonish" and the whole pic just works.

One of my two favs for the challenge. You achieved quite an impressive effect on the reflections, and the scenery somehow adds to the 'dirty' car and 'dirty' post processing. Good luck.

This type of processing is often hit-or-miss with me - I find that sometimes it can detract from certain types of subjects and often is not done well. But here, you chose a perfect subject for the processing.

I really admire this shot. In addition to the processing, I love the colors and the detail in the feflection and dust on the truck.

How cool! I love this effect! My only tiny nit-pick is that it seems a little tilted -- but it looks so cool anyway that it's just a little distraction.
