 Well rain was forecast so the kids and I went out to rake our lawn and the neighbors. We got all theleaves in one big pile and the kids went to town in them. I have a pic of me in leaves as a kid where you have to look real close to see me (dont we all). I wanted one of Aidan. He was really fidgety and hated having leaves touch his face so it was kind of hard to cover him up properly. And then for his pose he would either have his eyes open just a bit with no smile or a big smile with his eyes shut tight. I decided to go with this one as it felt like more of a proper portrait rather than a candid type shot. I am not sure how this will do. I know it wont score really high but I can hope that it doesnt score really low with it being a kid shot and all. I think the composition is good, the colors are strong and the technicals are right there as well. I had considered calling this "Gratuitous Kid Shot II" but I decided against it - for now.

PP - RAW conversion with all the usuals - shadow and highlight contrast, sat and hue adjustments, sharpen and noise adjustments. In PS - Layered out Aidans face from the leaves, made 3 layers of leaves with various shifts in hue and saturation, erased bit sof each layer to allow different colors of leaves to come through for the variety, minor cloning, USM, levels, dodging and burning, adjusted color to knock down the red tint, NI, resize, save for web, USM and border.

Hmmmm ... Shouldn't it be a 9? ;) ...
I like this one - I'm definitely going to copy this one day (with a different child and different leaves) !!!!

Cute. Leaves seem a bit more purple/ magenta than really neutral, which gives a sort of overall pink cast to the scene. Eyes could do with some light to give catch lights and some life.
