Just my opinions - take what's useful, bin the rest...
Composition feels weak - 50/50 split of land/sky feels static... greater use of the rope barrier (ie get in MUCH closer and a lower PoV) could have helped lead the eye into the image more....
Also can't find any point of focus here - and the lighting is very flat.
On the plus side - those clouds are really dramatic really ominous feeling - maybe you could have made them more of a feature of the overall image.
I'd suggest getting in closer and looking for more dramatic/dynamic angles.

Oh dear, nothing seems to be in focus in this: 5

This is too out of focus, but it does meet the challenge

I'm sure you're getting some DNMC comments/votes due to the people in the shot. The colors are a little off on my monitor; perhaps it's the cloudy sky that makes it appear a bit blue. The red pylons are also glowing, which is rather distracting.

hmmm,motion blur....should haveused a tripod.

a bit blur. Cloulds look good. I like the motion of the people!

I'm sure you've been dinged for having people in the shot. The focus is really a problem here, too. Tough call... from what I see, I'd guess that you had to shoot before the people left or you would have lost the lighting.

You had a great sky to work with. Too bad you didn't take advantage of it. This is very badly focused and really not well composed. Also, with people in the shot it doesn't really meet the challenge.

Guessing this was handheld-? Mostly out of focus and we are too far away for any real subject of interest. Maybe a tighter crop? The __?? on the right is distrating.

Seems a little out of focus.

Gotta love slow shutter speeds! but there are people in it, is the only problem.

Too much motion blur

I think you had a nice concept and a good place to work here, but something just misses the mark. You've used a longer exposer to get the blur of people leaving which I like, but because they are so far from you it is hard to make out that this is what you intended. Also, you have a nice, dramatic sky to work with, but it seems a bit blurry. I think getting closer to the action and underexposing a little bit with a slightly shorter shutter speed would have improved this.

It looks like the focus may be on the first orange pole instead of the building, so the image comes off as blurry.
10/25/2006 06:35:30 AM
it's a good sky, but the whole picture looks slightly out of focus.
10/25/2006 01:32:56 AM
There are people in this image. DNMC. The low lighting conditions also caused a blur that's rather unpleasant.

overall score: comp-0,meets challenge-2,PP-0,impression-0,wow-0. = 2. sorry.
i definitely see this was evening, therefore, your shutter speed decreased considerably -> and you've got this shaky image. I would suggest you use a tripod.
