This bridge hasn't had a train on it since I've lived in salem. It used to not have a fence and people used to walk across it.

Graphincally strong and perfect for black and white.

this is a really cool picture. it's great how the beams form a hall from this viewpoint, and the gate obstructing the tracks kind of tells a story, or hints that there's something more going on than can be seen here.

What a find! Overall, the composition is good. However, it needs a little more light for the buttom half. I love the idea!

Nice. Doesn't grab me enough for a higher mark but I do like the choice of subject.

I like this a lot ... One of my higher rated photos this week ...

Very artistic photo! Really nice how the rails disappear in the perspective. Good composition. The closed gate shows that this is an old track and not used anymore. The title stresses that further. The lighting looks like it's a rainy day in november. This fits nicely to the theme.
It looks a little flat and I wonder how it would look with more contrast between near and far, so that it has more depth. Anyway, this is just an idea and I like it how it is, too.

Good perspective. Great title.

almost perfect symmetry - well done

this looks just like a railroad bridge I used to shortcut across in Salem, OR (until they put the fence up). Don't suppose it's the same one, but it sure brings back old memories for me.

This is an interesting photo. Shows height, depth, creativity and a thought provoking scene. A old path and doorway to once was somewhere!

black & white ruins this picture

Strong image.

Excellent photo - to get so much of your subject in shot is excellent. Great angle and framing. Love it.

Looks familiar....

nice shot. I like the perspective, but to me that darn gate is distracting. good use of black and white. ~mcmurma

Cool shot. I like the symmetry and converging lines. I think it needs a little more contrast, though. It seems grey, and not bw to me.

I really love the depth that this photo has. It is also kind of neat for me because as a kid I used to play on a bridge like this
08/06/2002 12:27:00 PM
A little tilted to the left, but a good idea. Great use of symmetry.

Excellent! - Perfect line composition. I like the simple title - brief and to the point. I feel as if I'm right there looking at the gate. Great job! 9

Nice picture. It's unfortunate you had that fence blocking/taking away from the view. (6)

This looks like Mr. Setzler's bridge ; )
I like the subject and contrasts, but the framing is a little off. More symmetry between the two beams on either side would help, but I think it would be better if they were cropped off completely (just the foremost beams I mean)
08/05/2002 02:37:00 PM
Very nice symmetry.
08/05/2002 01:35:00 PM
never again for sure..
08/05/2002 01:23:00 PM
do shots from the side allow the gate to show up any better. a tough shot, i imagine
08/05/2002 01:22:00 PM
good picture, symetry. I like it is B+W too., title is confusing though.
08/05/2002 10:35:00 AM
Looks a little dull and washed out. Playing with the contrast would have helped.
08/05/2002 05:45:00 AM
Very complex. Black and white probably helps simplify it, but the impact is a bit confusing. I think I would have tried to find an asymmetric way to frame it that would draw the eye to one point.
