old pepsi bottle... date unknown, but its old. The label is literally painted on. I'd like to experiment with this concept further, by attempting a double exposure with the old bottle, and a new bottle, and having the two blend into each other in the center of the photo.

heh ;) Thanks all for the comments (if you ever read this). The "motion blur" is there just to break up the boredom of a tradition still life. It has no special meaning, although this photo is the first in a personal series that will eventually become a shot of an old pepsi bottle fading into a new pepsi bottle (or can).

This shot was attained by moving the tripod along its lateral axis at the beginning of a 2 second exposure, under 100% natural light shining through the window. Exposure compensation was maxed out.

Gotta love Pepsi!

I like it alot, and I'm not sure what the special effect adds to it. 6 sjgleah

I don't really get why you made it move, but it's a nice effect. a nice, original subject. I like that.

I am a pepsi fiend...I love the motion blur but have a suggestion :) Would have been nice if you did a tranition between new pepsi plastic bottles and the old one...But it's a great picture nevertheless...

Why the motiuon blur? It doesn't seem to fit with the subject or the title.

Great photo! So, either you or someone in the family is a pack-rat huh?
Creative. Nice technique. The top half of the background is visible and looks blue - could be the monitor. A little piece of history. Great photo -9

Nifty photo. Age is implicit. Is the backdrop a jacket liner? Focus is a tad soft, but that's very difficult to do in a moving shot.

Terrific pic. Would like to know how you did this. Spiller

Nice movement effect, well executed! The quilting of your background is a little distracting, but not horribly. I'm kinda confused by the title vs the action of the shot, but I'm easily confused. Where did you find this old bottle in such good condition? (was this old enough to have real cocaine?) 9 Swash

Not sure why it's moving? One idea might be to have a new and an old and have the old one morph to the new, as it were... don't know how to acheive that, just thinking in terms of contents. As it stands the movement doesn't add anything (for me).

interesting effect. i'd be interested in learning how to create that effect

Somewhat dark, and the image doesn't emphasize the age of the subject that much. Still, an interesting inerpration of the challenge.

Neat effect. Not so sure about your choice of background though. And I think the bottle seems to need a bit more light, especially at the bottom.

good image of an old pepsi bottle :) The motion blur is a nice effect and well executed, but I'm not really sure what the purpose of it is in this image other tha for a simple special effect. It does not 'degrade' the image in any way.. i was just wondering if it has another purpose... good shot :) - jmsetzler

Nice work but I would have liked to see you light it up a bit. Just because it is old it doesn't need to be dark. Autool

i don't get the significance of the image drag

Really good effect. what was your shutter speed?
08/06/2002 11:24:00 AM
Great job at adding interest to the picture. Don't know if it was possible, but would have been neat to see a new pepsi bottle coming out of the old one, or vice versa. Great job! karmat

This is neat but Im not sure I understand *why* the bottle has moved. Lighting is great, as is focus. Technically a great shot.

Inventive and well done... (8)

I resemble that!

Neat effect! I would like this better if the bottle zoomed in from outside of the frame. A solid background would have been nice too. Pepsi's gross. Does that mean I'm young? 7 Lisa

I don't think the double exposure works here. It's kind of distracting.

I am a sucker for anything that has to do with Pepsi. What a neat old bottle

Good still life. Nice effect.
