These are weeds - the seeds are these prickly little things with long feather-like thingies attached. (Note the lack of proper nouns..) And yes, I know I've done the barbed wire thing before. I have a thing for barbed wire. Sue me. :-) This won't do as well as the first one - it's not as elegant - but I do like it.

Oh, and it is in focus if you look at the seed parts. The feathery things are moving - it was very windy. I like the feathery things moving, but suspect I'll get nailed for "focus" issues.

Not sure what all I did for post processing, but it was nothing special. I did, however, learn to convert to the right colorspace then save for web, thanks to Judi and the self-portrait challenge.

Took the same shot later in the evening when the sun was out.

Trading post...
I've been slacking with comments. I didn't vote in this challenge but I would have gone 7 or 8 with this. I thinks it's beautiful. I love the contrasting subjects. Soft vs. sharp. Lovely job!

Well - I didnt score this one great. I gave it a 5. I felt it was a bit flat in color and contrast. Seemed like a lack of detail in the white part of the plant. I think it was a bit soft and lacked the "wow" factor. A quick look at your alternate and I think you entered the wrong one. While still a bit soft on the barbed wire the colors and detail on the flowing white stuff made up for it. But hey - a 5.98 and 2 favorites you cant really complain now can you.

Nice shot. Good composition although I suspect this shot scores better if you could have put a different back ground (maybe a black sheet or something?

"Corralling Miss Daisy, perhaps?" :) Sorry, as always the humor is a little "over-the-top" on my part, but on your part this is a great marriage of tough & tender with some excellent bokeh in the background to set apart the subject quite nicely. Great capture & composition!

I like it billowing almost hairlike against the barbed wire. Beautiful DOF. Nicely composed. This is an artful image! 9
