Dude, that reminds me of my cat that ran away...... ~sniffle~ now I must go.
11/15/2003 04:31:27 AM
i love this photograph and...
you're totally right about the baby bird. not as good as your cat. i don't know..it was a snapshot. i saw it, and took it for a friend, who was into photographing roadkill. it was in the middle of a paved basketball court in a park. i have no idea what is coming out of it's mouth...
i think that people would rather see flowers than this stuff..
personally, that REALLY bores me. i'd rather not tamper with the photograph at all. if it's good, it's good...otherwise, there's just something about changing them...
anyway..the cat is incredible. i really love it. nice work:)

First of all thank you to everyone who felt compeled to comment.
I knew they would range from disgust to wow, but when I saw the cat there was more than just a dead cat. And unlike some who feel this is not art I beg to differ, if all you see is a dead cat your not looking.
The composition of the image tells the story...ie. the double yellow lines, the tire marks, the look of total fear on the face.
The contrast was a problem there is a small area where cat and street tend to come together but when I printed the look is much better.
But thanks will do better with it next time, I hope the matter of well thought out photos continue and once agian thanks

I would've voted 0 but it doesn't exist.

Wow, umm, yuck! lol

My reaction went like this... "Eww, that's sick!" while remembering I'm a cat lover. Then I think to myself, "That IS a cat, right?!" Then I notice the faint lines in the road and then the tire track imprints still noticeable and let out another, "Eww!" Then I realize I need to read the title. "HAhahahahaa! That's too d*mn funny!!" :-D :-D Thanks for the laughs!

So, umm, I guess I don't have a 'real' critique on this, but it's a hilarious picture with a very appropriate title for this theme! :-)
10/07/2003 11:25:52 AM
Yuck, but from a purely technical view, good shot!
10/07/2003 03:50:31 AM
wow, I have seen only a handful of images thus far, but after browsing the thumbs I hope yours gets the rating it deserves!

I will give it a 9, would eb a 10 but qulaity wise it's not perfect. I would crop it some and perhaps add a little more contrast.

A very brave image indeed, and hope you don't get too many fuddy-duddys moaning about the subject. What a message indeed.

Can't wait to see who is responsible! (do hope you didn't run the cat over for the sake of setting this up ;)

Edit: Giving you a 10 now ;)

oh damn.... is my comment on this photo the 100th one, or have u already exceeded that number? LOL
I see these almost everyday on the way to work. reality can be ugly. 9
10/06/2003 11:48:45 PM
disturbing
10/06/2003 08:02:14 PM
Yikes! Morbid, but it meets the challenge better than most. Thank you so much for omitting the colour...
10/06/2003 01:58:26 PM
hilarious .. lighten up kids~!
10/05/2003 02:53:13 PM
This is a disturbing picture. I don't think this falls anywhere near the borders of art.
10/05/2003 10:55:47 AM
poor thing, but I bet it didnĀ“t hurt....would have liked to c it in more contrast
10/03/2003 10:05:23 PM
There may be some who do not see the humor here.
10/03/2003 02:45:53 PM
Its been a while since we had a good road-kill shot! Good capture!
10/03/2003 02:18:30 PM
This is disgusting. My photograph was banned because I black/white-ed only parts of it, yet something like this is allowed?
10/03/2003 12:37:24 PM
That's disgusting, B/W is good.
10/02/2003 09:24:38 PM
Looks like cat,7 from me!
10/02/2003 07:46:13 PM
OMG. That is so disgusting Imma give you a 8. :) Jacko
10/02/2003 05:59:26 PM

10/02/2003 05:22:39 PM
Oh that's just NASTY! I love it! Especially the centerline of road!
10/02/2003 03:01:57 PM
yuck
10/02/2003 11:26:50 AM
that is gross.....
10/02/2003 11:20:14 AM
OH MY GOSH! Good thing I'm not a cat lover! Squised kitty cat. He seems to have a look of terror on his face. What's up with that?
10/02/2003 10:08:17 AM
this is not art... 1.
10/02/2003 01:38:39 AM
Yea....I think he maybe used up his nine lives already!!.....sickening picture BUT it fits the challenge....
10/01/2003 10:54:24 PM
Get help.
10/01/2003 07:44:28 PM
Sorry, but that is gross.
10/01/2003 07:41:13 PM
yuk
10/01/2003 07:37:53 PM
*winces* *mean while, back in the HPA lab...*
10/01/2003 06:33:53 PM
The destruction is quite disturbing I am glad its not in colour. Perhaps this cat had used up its lives prior to its ugly demise.
10/01/2003 05:28:32 PM
YES!!! I LOVE THIS PHOTO. YOU STOLE MY IDEA!!! After the barage of cutzie pet shots last challenge I wanted to submit one just like this! Only problem is I couldn't find a dead cat and the neibor's live cat was took quick to catch with my truck! :) -10
10/01/2003 05:06:16 PM
base 1: 1/1; challenge: 0/3; technical: 1/3; aesthetics: 0/3; total: 2
10/01/2003 02:50:07 PM
That is truly a disgusting picture LOL, but it does fit the challenge assuming that he hadn't gotten hit eight times before that and this was infact his ninth life. Thank you for not putting this shot in color. :-)
10/01/2003 02:33:27 PM
NASTY!
10/01/2003 01:48:12 PM
That is disgusting. Glad you put it in black and white. Cat people, I would asume, will not rate this one high.
10/01/2003 12:18:30 PM
Even tire tracks, oh my what a cat loving crowd pleaser.
10/01/2003 10:38:26 AM
this is reality but it's visually unappealing. the exposure is rather bad also...
10/01/2003 10:07:11 AM
Okay, I have to say something on this one. I saw it last night and was disgusted and then I thought, "Okay, it's a photography contest and sometimes there are unpleasant things to be seen, leave it until morning and try again."

Guess what? It's still disgusting. But putting that aside, one, how do you know he/she (how could you tell now?) they weren' t on their 9th life when this happened?

Second the over quality of the shot is wanting. It seems dark and the contrast is not there that could be.
10/01/2003 09:47:39 AM
It's quite clear that the car was run over AT LEAST 9 times. ;)
10/01/2003 09:05:26 AM
this is in really bad taste! Surely you could've came up with something better than this.
10/01/2003 08:58:56 AM
ewwww
10/01/2003 08:39:24 AM
SICK. JUST SICK.
10/01/2003 07:39:55 AM
hmm, this is a little disturbing.. but defenetly ironic :) good one
10/01/2003 06:23:33 AM
Ewww! Poor cat, it used up all its lives!
10/01/2003 01:40:58 AM
That's gross, not ironic.
10/01/2003 01:31:29 AM
omg @ the tire tracks over the poor thing. And that expression on it's face like ohhhhhh shiiiiiiiii........t !
