Very cute, excellent PP treatment. The flatness really works in its favor.

Good use for the out of the frame technique.
This often doesn't work, but in this case does, and the bold frame again, often doesn't work, but here it does.
Well done on a unique shot and fine presentation.

I like your choice of framing and the smoke seemingly coming out of the frame.

Steam trains - my husband's passion! Lovely shot and the framing actually really works for this.

I'm not normally a border fan but i like this one a lot. Great capture of the locomotive. You've lost some detail in the sky I'd like to see. All in all, a superb photo.

Ireally like the effect the frame gives it especially how the smoke continues past the inside border.

FANTASTIC BORDER AND FINISHING TECHNIQUE. IT REALLY TAKES A NORMAL IMAGE AND MAKES IT VERY INTERESTING AND HIGHLY APPEALING. GREAT JOB.

Nice shot. Initially I really liked what you did with the boarder, but then realized my focus was drawn to the smoke going out of the picture instead of to the engine. I'm not sure that was your intention.

I like the composition and the framing on your subject. You captured the steam engine from an angle that makes it appear that it is approaching the viewer - which always adds visual interest. But you carried the illusion one step further. The steam train's smoke rises out of the frame giving the photo an overall illusion that the train is about to chug right out of the frame and into our living rooms. I also how the frame is outlined by a thin red border that not only pops off the black border but it also compliments the red on the steam engine.

I like what you ahve done with the border although it is perhaps too big. focus could bae a bit sharper and that bright cloud a the top could maybe be burned, but overall good job. 7

Normally I'm not a great fan of frames, but in this case I think it really works. Colours are great too. Well done 8

Looks like an old painted magazine cover from the 30's or 40's and I like the smoke in front of the frame effect too. Good Shot.

Nice job on the edit. I like how you made the smoke in front of the border, I've never seen that before. It may just be my eyes but I think the focus could be a little sharper. Good luck to ya!

A well done classic shot and I really like the way you've done the border with the steam escaping the picture. Very nice presentation.

Not a bad shot. I'm really not sure about the border, as the photo itself has a very tight crop on it.

Such a typical train poster. Nice image though. Perhaps you could have blurred out the right hand side fence etc.

Nice and crisp, but the LARGE border pulls my eyes there instead...sorry

While I think the border is a little large/overpowering, this is the first use of a border that I've liked in the Free Study challenge. I think there are more borders in this challenge that any I've seen recently and yours enhances the picture. Naturally, you'll get a dozen other comments that don't like it, but I do.
