I like the picture and where you were going, but the flash is way too harsh here. Natrual light would have worked much better.

I'm not ashamed to say that I really liked that movie :p The setup and everthing is good here but the use of a flash does-in the dog's eyes and the shadow behined hurts too. It all here except lighting!!!

didn't see the movie, not scoring on that. The full frontal on-camera flash is not your friend. Look at his poor eyes. Look at the huge shadow behind him. These are things we try to avoid by not using the on-camera flash. No good ever comes from relying on that as your single light source.
If you have time, go read Cindy's thread on studio lighting.
He's a cute pup.

Face is a little blown out (and those nails could use a trim)

Awwwww... look at (him/her?) Chihuahua puppies are just soo cute. This might even be cuter than my Kirby. :-)

I'm not voting... but let me offer some critique.

I've like that you have used a solid background. But the texture of the background is a bit distracting. Also, I think a pink would have gone better with the "scene" you are going for.

Also, looks like you are using an on-camera flash. I'm guessing from the depth of field is probably a point and shoot camera. There are ways to diffuse the flash some. One very effective way is to place a pingpong ball over the flash, allowing it to diffuse the light some. Also wax paper can diffuse it also.

He's still just too darn cute though. :-)

cute dog (nails really need to be cut, but not counting points for that) and good idea! the lighting is a little too much, hard to keep those eyes from getting that reflection.

Cute doggie.. :) the direct shot gives it an unatural glare in the eyes. Lighting can be improved.. composition is ok.. 5 for me.. :)

nice :) Seems a tad bright but I'm sure just getting her to pose for you is a feat!

The flash has made the picture very harsh. Try bouncing the flash off a white card. If the flash is built into the camera and can’t be aimed away to bounce it then try holding some thin white fabric, paper or tissue slightly in front of the flash to diffuse the light a little.

I don't think the pupils should be reflecting

Cute concept. Flash way too harsh.

the direct flash hurts the photo as bruiser appears from another planet. and to recreate the movie it should atleast be a landscape shot.

Would have been a good shot but light is to harsh, and the reflection n his eyes is very distracting.

Cute dog. Lighting needs some work. The dogs eyes look possessed.

It looks like the dog, as would be expected. My wife also saw this photo and said that the dog looks like Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. :)

Not a bad photo, mind. Shiny.
