I love the abyss feeling that this has. Frankly, I catch very little texture, except near the "horizon," but I guess that in itself is a form of texture. 7- karmat

Awesome photo. I love the blue. The 'texture' may not be 'in your face', but it's there and it's good. Great! 9

would be better if we could see better into the crystalling structure. color is excellent though :)

Neat-o. Looks very computer-generated. The blurry foreground prohibits a good sense of texture for me, though.

Like many shots this week, I get the feeling that this shot is probably very artistic, but unfortunately, it's over my head

This picture seems to be missing something in my opinion. I don't know what it is but this picture didn't grab my attention. There may be texture here, but it is not something that jumps out at you. Nice effort, though, and I hope my comments may help you for the next challenge. *3* -balynch

I like this. it feels like I'm floating above a sea of blue clouds or something. nice effect. the only thing it needs is something to draw attention. what would be super cool is if there were a bright red object somewhere in the frame.

sugar? There is nice color here but I feel a bit lost in it. perhaps a view from a bit further above might have helped it. = 4

Total Score6

For those that are just learning, like me.

Composition: Scoring in this area is based on basic composition of a picture and includes the rule of thirds, balance, cropping, and curved and diagonal lines. Subject matter that does not lend itself to the picture or otherwise unwanted is also considered here.

Originality: Scoring in this area is based on pictures or concepts that I have seen, as well as how much effort you have invested in the picture. Usually a little something that sets it aside from a snapshot. Does it make me want to come back for another look? You know things like that.

Technical Aspects: Focus, exposure, lighting, and other special effects (done by the camera), and post processing are all considered in this category.

Meets Challenge: This is based on my interpretation of if you, have/have not, met the challenge. This is fairly simple but quite important for this site.

There are many sites that can give you assistance in achieving better skills in photography, but I think the best way to learn is to take pictures and show them to other people. Believe me when it is a good one you will know it.

Good luck!

I realy do not know what I am seeing in this image. The forground, which is more than a third of the picture, appears out of focus to me and the rest is too lacking of detail. I just do not see texture.

i have a confession to make. i'm lost here. it's someting blue, and i'm suspecting (based on your title) it's got something to do with crystals. abstract is all well and good, and i don't have to know what i'm looking at to appreciate the texture, but IMHO, there's too little in this shot to hold my interest, no focal point. sorry. -- gr8photos (3)

mmmm.. I dont see where are you going
07/22/2002 07:32:00 PM
Shouldn't some part of this be in focus?
07/22/2002 07:13:00 PM
It's so luminous..... Beautiful!

pretty blue; not sure about the texture part
07/22/2002 10:43:00 AM
Wow. Such a vibrant blue. Could you have gotten a better angle on it (higher up, more-so looking down on it)?

This image is fairly difficult to interpret as texture... i can see the uneven texture of the surface, but I think that if the immediate foreground was in the focal plane, the image would have more impact. = 4 - jmsetzler
