Post challenge...just figured out how to write in this box...I left a comment below. I took this photo from a hilltop, above the morning fog. The balloon was coming through the fog on the next hilltop over. Excited to have a photo over 7 and my second ribbon in a months time. Thank you all for your great comments and votes.

I had to do a critique club critique earlier on a ballon image. Everything it didn't have, this one has. Balloons float in space really; without a point of reference an image of one would be a picture of a thing - not very interesting in and of itself. Here, you set a mood and gave us context. The sky the balloon is wrapped in is doing something. And there is something else in the image that I know, that is concrete, that gives me reference. These two things make the balloon here all the more ethereal - the way it should be. I don't remember even seeing this on the front page. But, the score shows how good use of context and drama can turn an 'object' into an excellent photograph to which people can connect. Very well seen and taken. Congrats on your ribbon!

Gorgeous shot. I would have placed this one first. Very unique sky and composition for a hot air balloon shot.

Excellent shot, and congratulations on the well-deserved ribbon, but I'm wondering what it is that I'm looking at. Is this baloon flying near buildings? Were you on a building, or in another baloon? Some info about the shot would be nice.

Again, congratulations on a great image.

Excuse me for saying this but, for some reason, I didn't like it this much the first time.
Then I looked at it again and I actually feel the serene, but beautiful quietness that this photo has to offer.
Nicely done =)

Wow. Wow.

Something about this shot. It's very quiet on the front page, but once you get a look at it, there is mystery, magic, and almost a "Modern Mary Poppins" quality to it...

Impressive indeed.

Thank You everybody for your great comments and votes. I took this shot from a hill top, overlooking the valley fog. The balloon came from the annual Speidie fest and Balloon rally, held in Binghamton every year. The balloon was near the next hill top over, breaking through the morning fog.

I love the soft sky shades with the more vibrant red and green. Very serene shot :) Congrats!

an complement to cool, soothing colors. but does one really transport by hot air balloon? perhaps.. it is interesting, because personally I would have used some NI on the lower half...you didn't and succeeded.

Very nice shot, great timing to have the tower coming out of the clouds. I think a little more PS work would really make the colors come more alive.

Well done shot. The mood perfectly fits the subject matter. I would consider experimenting with some slightly tighter crops, but it may end up being just different and not necessarily better.

Its very beautiful and I like your composition but the colors of baloon really sets me off. I would probably try a bit of desaturation.

Have to bump this to a 10. I assume you took this while riding in a hot air ballon. Wow!

Lovely! I think the pastel colors are great, gives a wonderful soft feeling to the image. I like the inclusion of the antennae tower, good foil for the balloon.. technology versus an example of a simple mode of travel. The colors contrast nicely with one another, that green is beautifully vibrant against the peachy-pink sky. The image looks a bit Neat Imaged to me, which is alright but sometimes ends up plasticking images up, it may not be NI'd at all but that immediately came to mind when I was looking at the relationship of the balloon to the sky. A very nice photo, I gave a 7

I wasn't going to vote on this challenge due to time restrictions, but after seeing this i'm going to have to vote on 25%. This really is something special.
Technically it's not perfect but that seems immaterial to be honest.

It's inspiring. Adding to my favourites. Thanks.
