I'd been practicing my panning technique for a couple of years before taking this one. I have loads of nice sharp cars, bikes etc. but in this case I wanted to go a step further and really try to convey motion by introducing a small amount of blur into the vehicle.
In a case such as this, your ears are just as important as your eyes.

I applaud that you are attempting the panning technique.
IMO Panning has to do with sense of motion but keeping a clear focus on the subject. I once saw a photo of a boat speeding thru the lake and I could see the individuals in the photo but you could just feel the mode of speed boat. Not sure if I saw it here or in a book from the public library. I think if you zoom out just a little and bring the focus a little more on the subject it may produce a different picture. This may improve or ruin your picture but it would just be for practice.
Sorry, I have no real experience with panning other than seeing others photos.....
I hope I have giving you a different prospective (for better or worse) none the less a prospective.

It's actually a pair of tree trunks beside the path. Thanks for your comment - exposure is very tough because of the desire for a longer shutter time. It was shot on film so I had little or no idea how it came out until processing much later.

Great panning shot. Very nicely done, I like how its kind of going diagonally into the photo instead of just straight across. I'm curious what the brownish thing is in the middle that comes to the top of the car? Cropping some off the left might have made it a tad bit more visually interesting IMHO. I also think the exposure could have been just slightly longer? but I'm not sure on that one. Nicely done though.

border/frame is too big. the speed shows but I'd like to see some focus

overexposed

Panning is good, but the car is way blown out and not quite sharp.
White cars are a pain to shoot at the best of times, especially in sunshine. The over-exposure has however created an interesting effect, making the shot look almost painted or something. As sports journalism it doesn't quite work, but as art it definitely does. I like it.

Good panning capture.

Nicely captured. These are difficult shots to make. You did very well here. (I sound like a schoolteacher. Forgive me.)

good panning shot but the car detail is pretty blocky ?

Great sense of speed here, the white areas on the rear section of the car seem a bit hot. Still, that's a minor thing

You catch the filling of speed. Great shoot.
