 This is Dieter

Dieter is a homeless man from the streets of Muenster and he is saving for a bus ticket so he can visit his girlfriend in Amsterdam. I talked with him for a little while and took his picture and then came back once more to chat with him a little more. I gave him some change to help him out.

The couple in the background; you see them everywhere. The man had his hand on the womans back turning her away from the homeless man.

Besides a great image, and of course the way it was post-processed, is the story being told here in 2 parts:
The tones, composition and his expression, and of course your narrative.

Before I read the comments I thought this was about dieting (as in not eating) and was a social commentary about the beggar going hungry and the obviously overfed members of society afraid to look at him.

That is so cool Joey, I didn't see him & if I had I wouldn't have had the guts to go up and talk to him before photographing him. Great shot and thanks for finding a little background about him. It turns him into a person not just a begger.
