I think the background red is kind of distracting.

Good idea

i don't really like the colors... 4 sjgleah

Could probably use brighter lighting to show off the grains better. But a clever idea...

Excellent - creative idea. Only one small thing - could be more light (not necessarily a lighter photo - but more light in the photo) - otherwise this is really great. 9 from me.

wow.. i like this. i would suggest some light at a maybe lower angle, to accentuate the little gleams.

good choice of subject.

Quite creative. I like the lines and shadows. The red works well too. Could the sugar have been whiter?

clever idea and good use of texture and line

this is a neat concept... the red in the back looks like a wiere sunset over a white desert... i like it :) = 7 - jmsetzler

I like the white against the red/pink, and how you have managed to get some of the grain of the sugar. I half way expect to see an ant or other small creature on skis. I think moving to the left a little would have allowed the shadows on each of the dunes to be really visible.

I like the red background. I think maybe some levels adjustments could make that sugar a little whiter though?
07/23/2002 02:30:00 PM
Too dark - sugar should be approaching white imo.

Personally, I don't like the background.

nice color contrasts; not sure if texture would be the main topic

This is a good shot but could have been much improved in post production. Using Photoshop or similar adjusting the levels to make the sugar whiter and then playing with brightness and contrast makes a huge difference. I saved your image and tried it and it makes a huge difference. It looks fantastic with a black background instead of red and converted to greyscale is very cool. I do like the shot though. You will probably like your shot better but take a look at it the way I worked it //uk.photos.yahoo.com/bc/martinwoods_uk/lst?.dir=/Yahoo!+Photo+Album&.view=t

Like the abstract image you created. Don't see any texture though and if these dunes are made of sugar shouldn't there be more white besides the few specks of white that read like noise

This sugar looks grey, I wouldn't of know what it was. Very cool looking texture all the same. Kee

Sugar huh? Maybe we need to send the DEA over to make sure of that.
