Caught this little dragon fly in a bug net. He just stood there, so I decided to shoot him on the net. I liked the textured feel of it. This is my first time shooting bugs with my new Canon 550EX flash. It really helped to boost the colors.

I cloned out the dust specs in PS7 to print it (did not use the clone tool on this one - just the final copy of my print).

lens: Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX Macro lens.

Impressive job capturing the dragonfly in all its glory. The colors on its eyes are great and the detail you've captured in that narrow DOF are amazing. Did you use a polarizer filter on your lens?

This happened to be the very first picture I looked at when I joined this community of digital photographers. To say that this splendid shot was the first result of a newcomer to macro photography is quite staggering and a wonderful endorsement to the camera itself. Just as well that critter stayed still!

Darn nice photo! The bug shots amaze me, especially the macros because you get to see so many details you wouldn't normally see at first glance. Congratulations on a job well done!

Hey baby! You have great eyes! Wanna come back to my place?

If eyes are -windows of the soul-, I wouldn't want to be this one's analyst... ;-)

What an amazing and extreme macro! The proximity to the subject is so microscopic, the DOF is beginning to feel almost too shallow. Given the sheer size of the magnified and central point of focus, I feel, a somewhat more generous crop at the top of the image (if possible) could provide both a balance for the wide diagonal (white mesh) at the bottom and a more standard vertical format, without sacrificing the present impact.

On a marginal note, the border appears -a little- too decorative, perhaps, for such a bold capture.
Nevertheless, one of the very best shots here, IMO, with an expanse of detail and plenty of -wow-!

Wow! Talk about getting intimate! Great composition here. It needs a little more DOF to get the hairs on the mouth and upper legs in focus.

I'm impressed that someone else has managed to get this close to a dragonfly. Good job! But the man-made, unnatural quality of the plastic mesh detracts from the overall quality of the image.

Interesting shot, good color. I think I'ld like to see more of the bug in focus. DOF might be to shallow in this case.

Fantastic, a shot full of great character. Great foreground texture. Very effective composition. It may seem like a small point, but I hate it when people misspell their titles. Use a spellchecker!!! 10

just browsing through the challenge, not voting, but this is great. First the colours, then the patterns inthe mesh (?) and the eyes. The clarity is spot on. And finally, what lens are you using? The closeness is incredible-- its almost a microscope...and it is focused from the feet to the top of the head. best shot of challenge
