Position of the train was absolutely accidental, of course. Slight barrel correction with Panorama tools. Basic level/sat, added contrast via cuves in the face area.

Cool look with the hectic movement behind and the still meditative subject in front. Congratulations on your top 10 finish.

First off, Congrats on your high score and great finish. This photo is well deserving of that.
Second, I see you have never marked a comment as Helpful, so you either don't find any of the information provided helpful (in that case, I'm afraid I wont be of much help either, since I tend to agree with most of the comments) or you just have no intentions of acknowledging people for taking the time to offer words on your photos.
Either way, it's kind of discouraging.
Anyway, about the photo...
I love it. I think you did a wonderful job with the motion blur. The focus is excellent on the man. Very nice and crisp, great detail.
I like the colors in the background, I think that despite the bright background colors, the man still stands out nicely against the background.
I like that he is in the center of the photo. I think that works very well here in my opinion. It doesn't always work, but in this case, I like it.
Lighting also appears good. Editing works great too.
Not really much else to say about a 7th place 6.56 scoring image but great job.

Interesting, is somewhat different, idea. I like the way you managed to get him franed by the door of the train.

Should be Platform 10, just for the subliminal message. Did you see how well that worked in the Bokeh challenge? ;)
07/02/2006 02:56:10 PM
the color separation is in a perfect position it works wonders on your photo.
07/02/2006 02:10:26 AM
Beautiful. Totally contrived, of course; but beautiful, nonetheless.

The two horizontal lines work well, as does the vivid colours of the train. The position of the subject - very close to, but not quite, in the dead-centre of the shot - does bug me somehow. Maybe it needs to be more obviously asymmetrical.
07/01/2006 02:56:58 PM
kudos for catching the train right in the center of that red spot.
07/01/2006 02:37:22 PM
I really enjoy the primary colors on the train - and great pose! Interesting contrast between the noise that train is most likely causing and the quiet, calm meditator.

Thats awsome !

Great Shot!

Great colors and composition. Well done. Bumping up.

Very nice. I like shots like this with a stationary person in a moving enviornnment. You did a good job with this.
06/28/2006 02:44:36 PM
Excellent image
06/28/2006 07:56:48 AM
Wicked capture with perfect colours.
06/27/2006 11:37:21 PM
You caught it just right to get the doors right behind the subject, nice one!
06/27/2006 07:17:49 PM
haha what a great place to meditate!
06/27/2006 11:48:31 AM
great idea. the colours of the train really make this work well.
06/27/2006 06:35:07 AM
HMMM I like it but don't know why 7
06/27/2006 01:41:52 AM
Wow - nice timing to get the great color background. This shot really conveys the contrast between calm and motion. Even the blue to the sides of the brighter-colored bits of train draw your eye inward to the main subject/background. A 10!
06/27/2006 01:13:21 AM
so unexpected - love this - maybe crop it down just a little so the subject is more predominant - excellent creative though! 7
06/27/2006 12:57:52 AM
Great timing to get this so symmetrical. Excellent!
06/26/2006 07:29:56 PM
good composition. love the way the train color captures and frames the subject
06/26/2006 05:48:57 PM
guessing it's a southwest train! i quite like this, in that the set up is a bit odd. the most dynaic thing about this is the orange line that runs through the image; so strange that it's so straight. the image doesn't really encourage meditative thoughts though - seems bit noisy to me. it's difficult to vote based on concept, but technically it's sharp and well lit; just generally lacks that certain sparkle. 5.
06/26/2006 02:28:12 PM
cool! how many weird looks and comments did you get while shooting this? lol!
06/26/2006 11:20:38 AM
Look at that crazy photographer! ;^) Neat idea and well executed. Good luck in the challenge.

I call this technique, "Stone in the stream." I like your interpretation. 8.
06/26/2006 09:07:50 AM
Oh this is great. I love how he is framed by the moving train. Him being "centered" is not only literal but symbolic as well. Nicely done. 8
06/26/2006 02:36:50 AM
veery nice vibrant colors
06/26/2006 01:32:05 AM
A very simple concept, that works very well.....
