 The sun is intermittently shining through my infamous sliding glass door from which light illuminates about 50% of my photos nowadays. I place the hand and glass between the light source (sun) and my matte finish glass table top (not on a table). It's a battle with the clouds and the rotation of the earth after that ... The more the sun moves up, the more I rotate the glass to get a realistic shadow. the refractions are caused by both the glass and extra mylar and stuff I put on the floor. I've removed that from the picture since it seems to complicate things.
Anyway, going with the hand and a simple wine glass ... with some grape soda in it :) ...

The red coloring adds to this photo. I'm not a fan of hte light streak between the hand and the glass on the left side, but it doesn't take away from the photo at all.
