I have the same problem trying to capture 3D and staying in focus on everything.

Good color and saturation. However, I don't think the composition fully works. No problem cutting off some petals, in fact that can help bring attention to the stamen and anchors the flower to the frame, but cutting off the stamen makes the flower seem incomplete because there is no single part that we can see in it's entirety. Because the petal in the foreground is out of focus, the viewer tends to take this as a visual clue that the petals are not the main subject. I think it would be better composed lower in the frame with the stamen coming up to the top.

nice shot!

very nice

Lovely crisp image

DOF too shallow. nice crop

Pretty darn nice, but I'm not crazy about the depth of field issues. The flower is not flat, so is a difficult macro. Not too crazy about the cropping either. 5 Swash

Great DOF.

It is strangely cut on the top
07/18/2002 09:01:00 AM
nice colors, good closeup
07/17/2002 10:40:00 PM
great shot bright colors

IMHO-would be better with all the flower in the photo-and maybe some more focus

good cropping.

wow. great angle. i like how the petals pull you from the outside into the center.

this would work for texture, too, wouldn't it. i love lilies. it's a shame you cropped off the top of the stamen (sp?), i think having them all the way in the shot would've really added to the shot. i do like the DOF you used, having the petal in the foreground slightly blurry works well. -- gr8photos (4)

nice shot...

I like the composition and color, but personally want more DOF so more (not necessarily all) of the flower's in focus. And unless there's something undesirable at the top, I's move the crop upwards so the sides and bottom are cropped, not the top.

interesting angle. nice colors. even though im not a pretty flower person, this one seems different
07/16/2002 01:52:00 PM
beutiful, I noticed thered part of the flower that is on top is out of focus, otherwise really nice shot.

Wow another flower photo. I am about a third of the way through voting at this point and I must have looked at a dozen flower photos so far. And for the most part they are all well executed photographs as is yours.

I love the color in this image... I think I would like this one better if the flower was positioned in the lower portion of the frame with a little more depth of field possibly... good shot :) = 6 - jmsetzler

I'm not much of a "flower shot" person, but I like this. The color is great.

very pretty colors....

Very nice shot... unique looking flower, and I like the color and detail.

Such a beautiful flower. A little more DOF to blur the b/g area would help. The crop should not cut off the stems on top.
07/15/2002 01:07:00 PM
I like the colors of your photo very much. The aspect you used however, would require a very high depth of field, and I think you shot yourself in the foot by allowing the focus point to go too deep. The petal in the front is blurred, which to me is distracting, and the part that should be out of focus, the flower to the rear at the bottom left is too sharp.

Nice Lily with nice colors. Kee
