I showed more of the window and did not add the grain this time...the dress still fits but she wouldn't wear it. I wasn't able to get the same sad look, i think that the older version is better.

This is such a lovely portrait with such personal meaning for me that it's hard not to cry! I'm putting this in Favorites as reference for a photo I want to take with Shanna, who will be four in September. You are certainly blessed with this little lady. :)

Both shots are beautiful! The emotions shown here are genuine and simply adorable. The slight desat is a great touch ;) Good luck.

Nice job, i liked your other one but this is also nice. ONe nitpic is the shape of her right hand, seems a bit unnatural IMHO

this photo just touches my heart. I have a niece about this age and her Dad just left the family...sad. Love the light on this and the gaze....8

This is gorgeous. About the only thing I can offer is maybe blur the wood just a touch to make sure the focus stays on that lovely young, wistful face. Very well done.

First off let me say this is a fantastic shot. However, I feel your approach to this retake is a bit of a slap in the face to your original. I loved your original but removing the artsy elements like the strokes and the noise in the retake make it look like those were mistakes you are trying to correct. I don't think they were mistakes in the least. Anyway, that's just the impression I get. I know you aren't going to throw the other original away or anything like that. It's just now you have two great images! So congrats on that front.

Ok as for the photo itself, what's not to like? Very good detail, color and lighting. The composition is also good. The only thing I don't like too much which you carried over from the original is those hot pixels. It looks good in her blouse since it makes it look all sparkly but in her hair it just looks like the result of too much sharpening. However, it's not as noticable in this version as the original and really the only area that I notice it right away is the strands of hair right above her forehead which are contrasted strongly against the shadow of the wall.

a little too much desaturation. Good lighting. Maybe a softening filter?

Reminds me of my own childhood. I like the desaturated colors. Great expression on the girl's face.

The combination of shadow and ambient lighting really maintains the mood of this great photo. Very nice!

Nice one, Mandy. If I were to change anything, I'd have her in a solid colored gown. Minor nitpick though. I like her hands and the frame of the window.
