Wow! Thanks everyone for the great comments.

Considering the amateurish nature of my whole setup, I wasn't expecting anything good to come of this. All of the criticisms are right on target; and I decided to enter it, despite the obvious flaws, because the rest of the shots were even worse:O

I have to agree with a lot of the others here, you are a beautiful woman and I just love those incredible green eyes of yours :D OK OK Im not your typical male, I dont start at the chest and work my way out, I tend to start at the eyes as they seem to be the first thing that can captivate me more than any part of the female figure... Well done :)

Was just in the neighborhood (your profile) to drop you a PM and felt compelled (again) to say Hi to this image. :)

Just cruisin through your profile and this caught my eye and I wanted to say once again how much I love this shot!

Congrats again on your personal best in the Far Side challenge, Roxanne!

I loved your shot. I thought the balance and coloring were wonderful but mostly just the natural beauty of being a woman that you brought out. Fabulous.

Very well done portrait Roxanne! The lighting is very well done. The color balance is perfect and all the tones are true. Composition is also well done - your placement in the frame is great and the angles/lines of your shoulders/neck/head make it all come together. Very well done! I like it...(and although I love the lubber shot, you are definitely more pleasing to look at.) As Art said, underrated...very underrated.

Wow! I guess I know nothing about portraiture. I had this pegged for a top10 finish but it's a great shot nonetheless.

Lovely lighting and very pure approach. Perhaps a touch soft but nonetheless and excellent self portrayal. Well done! 8

You project a compassionate curiosity with an almost delicate fragility in this self-portrait. It draws the viewer into the composition and makes them wonder what you are thinking. It's simplicity is its strength.

very good portrait.... score may suffer for focus a bit off - would like to see eyes as sharp as your wild hair. Long bangs are great. Muted texture gray/black back & colour is excellent combination.

Roxanne? What a wonderful and beautiful portrait! Lighting IMHO might be a tad too harsh. I do like your pose and intense focus. Your eyes draw the viewer to attention and hold them there. I like your choice of background, it enhances this awesome photo but doesn't overpower it. Well done girl!

great eyes; nice exposure. The direct gaze into the viewer's eyes totally captivates. Very nice portrait!

This is an attractive shot. The blue back and the lighting on you and in the back are appealing. Good choice in being left of center - I like the balance of darkness on the right. And your hair looks great!

I know you, I've seen your profile, but damn, forgot your name again. No time to look it up. I like your portrait, it's lively, hold one's attention. 8

I really like the contrast between you and the dark background. This is clean and simple. I like it! Bumping the score up on my second pass through...

Parts of the lighting are on the verge of being washed out in this shot. Also the shot could be a tad bit sharper.

and lost your shirt in a poker game to top it off! :) Background is a bit weak - maybe could darkened it completely. You look like a Meg Ryan / Sharon Stone combo. Very pretty and gorgeous eyes. Lighting highlights the "bad" hair nicely. Great work.

Very sharp. You are very attractive and the slightly messy hair adds to it - 8 from me!

Love your hair! Pretty eyes. I wish the background were a tad darker. Maybe an adjustment of black would do the trick. I like the backlit effect too.
