Well... after reading the comments below I have to say I disagree with a few of them... the crop is perfect IHMO, and the boy's expression is perfect. It immediatley gave me the impression he was in the middle of asking his mom a very sad question. Excellent capture. I love the desaturated colors and the interesting textures. :)

Touching portrait Mandy as always ;) I wish the crop was tighter though ;)

This is simply a breathtaking image. The expression on your face is worthy of an oscar nomination and truly enhances a technically flawless entry. My pick for blue in this challenge. 10

I love the movement. It really captures the feminine protecting spirit. Awesome work.

Well setup. Retaining some muted color works well along with the judiciously applied dodge and burn. The use of soft focus is very nice touch.

Reminicent of Dorothea Lange! A bold endeavor! The child's facial expression is distracting to me though. I admire your courage in taking on such a feat, but it didn't quite hit me with the impact I look for. But overall, I think the image is good.

one of my favorites.....his open mouth does not present the same feelings to me as does your expression....but that's probably just me. good luck...10

This is very emotive. From the thumbnail, the bricks in the wall look like a cross which set a mood before opening. It is a lovely lovey image, even if a tad dark in mood. I think the latter is what really captured me before the exquisite beauty of the two individuals. 10

The cheerful look on the child's face blows this photo for me. I don't understand what you're going for, but I assume it's something sort of hopeless. The kid looks anything but hopeless.

Lovely---cropping into the adult's hair would have made this stronger!

Nice homage. The child's expression is hilarious, it makes your expression seem overserious, turning the whole picture into a wonderful self-parody.

Really good portrayal of emotion on this very controversial subject. I like the muted color too. The slanting wall in the background seems a bit distracting to the composition. Nit picky really...Great work.

mandy you look to "nice" with your hair done up and your clean white shirt to be a migrant worker...but I like the tones and expression on your face

Cool style, mixes reality with fiction. The eyes of this girl/woman are a story on their own.

Very nice, I would probably have framed it different so that your eyes are more prominent. The wall on teh back doesn't really add much so you could have cropped it and kept a square format, I think it would have been stronger that way.

Mandy this is wonderful. Although it is all set up it still pours out emotion, both your faces looks so realistically natural. The sadness and tears in your eyes and the vacant look on the boy's face (your son?) are telling me a sad story full of impact. The gentle but protective way you are holding the boy with your hands and also with your legs works into the story naturally. If I could chose one image from the whole lot which would evoke emotions in the viewer, this one would be it. Fine work Mandy, respect!

Nice image with lots of emotion I think. Maybe your legs need to be a bit lower, or the crop a tad higher. Otherwise, lovely tone and composition.

Hmmm... The face looks familiar... can't quite place it... Hmmm...
Hahaaahaa. Just razzin ya, Mandy. Your son doesn't look like he was into his role. :) Photographically, very nice job, but it doesn't come across as genuine and not your best work, IMO. That's your fault for coming up with such great stuff all the time though. :)

...oh yeah- I have a bag on my head, so you will never guess who this is until next week. ROFL... :)
