Ok I had nothin coz Ive been doin tons of OT at work this past week. This means darkness when I leave work. This week I was back on my Afternoon shift and therefore got some hours of daylight.
Today being the last day I kept my eyes open on the way to work. I saw this "desolate" looking tree on the side of the freeway so I pulled over unwraped my new IR filter to try for the first time and took a couple of snappies. Couldnt tell how they turned out till I got to work.
Not too bad for a first attempt. Reckon Ill need to buy a tripod now though. Shutter times are hell slow.

Oh yeah POST PROCESSING:

Dats it.

The A70 has a weird false colour scheme for the shots with my hoya R72, really purple looking. Looks spooky. Astral Plane baby.

Hope you all like it. Good Luck All.

I wish the contrast could be stronger and close in more on the wicked looking tree.

image looks too fluffy...i love the subject though....would have deifinitely rated it higher had it not been for the extra amount of fluffiness....was it intentional?

A great tree. However, I would have liked to see a straight horizon and closer version the tree placed on the left hand side of the image with the background to be long open spaces. It could also do with a higher contrast =)
However, well done. Good try =)

This could be very good if it was straightened up and lots more contrast.

What a wonderful tree. If the photo was a little more focused and the subject wasn't as centered I would like this better.

More contrast would of help increase my vote.

Neat angle, like the different perspective. Good choice of B&W. Focus is a bit too soft for my tastes. I don't know if its just my monitor, but it looks like its too bright. Playing with the brightness/contrast might enhance it. =-)

for me this would benefit from some sharpening

This photo definatley gives a very alone, creepy, desolute feeling. Good job!

I think this is a great subject for the challenge, I think it would bet even better if the horizon was level. The photo look flat and the focus is a bit soft. I think more contrast and US Mask would really make this stand out. Good Job.

Good composition, but it is asking for more contrast IMHO

this is a really neat subject... the tonal range is fairly weak though... i think the a different exposure method could strengthen this shot quite a bit :)

Too dark, needs more contrast in the details.

Cool. Looks scary. I like this a lot. Maybe needs too stand out more somehow. Dont mind thats its central.

Good photo, would've been even better if the tree was more towards one side and there was more contrast.
