Good stuff!

I think this shot would work _really_ well as a panoramic, with less sky at the top and less dark ground as well. The color range is wonderful here, though. I love your title, too.

Great job! The only suggestion I would have is to crop it closer to the lightening, so that the viewer doesn't wander around in the picture looking that the red lights, and other such stuff. Nice colors!
07/21/2002 12:41:00 PM
What a hard image to get, and you did just fine. The color of the sky is very good.
07/21/2002 12:31:00 AM
Beautiful
07/20/2002 11:25:00 AM
Great lightning shot! I love the colors and the backlighting in the clouds. Very good.
07/19/2002 05:57:00 PM
nice sky, but the landscape is a little lacking,
07/19/2002 02:43:00 PM
Excellent composition, I love the texture of the sky and the negative space. The radio towers are a distraction and you may want to clone them out for non-DPChallenge use. Since there is nothing you can do about them here they are not affecting my score. 8-ClubJuggle.

Awesome
07/18/2002 04:27:00 PM
Wow, this is great! I love the colors in the clouds, very nice. Could you have gotten away with a closer crop? (closer view of the lightning) no loss in the score column. 10 Swash

excellent catch :) I have been dying to try this myself. In my area, the terrain doesn't lend itself well to this type of shot... good work! = 9 - jmsetzler

Lightning as the main object should fill bigger area.
07/18/2002 08:37:00 AM
nice shot of lightning; darkness on bottom a bit heavy - cropping slightly more might help
07/17/2002 11:13:00 PM
Great shot, I like the subject. The quality of the shot is good, fantastic colors and the sky looks great.
07/17/2002 07:21:00 PM
Nicely done. With some creative cropping you could have several pictures from the same shot. Great job.
07/17/2002 04:24:00 PM
We had a (rare) fantastic lightning storm here last year and I got zero pictures of it. Very nice. Are those "actual" or "enhanced" colors? I don't care as far as voting, but would like to know in general how other folks adjust their images.

I love lightning - a shot of that alone scores high with me! This is a very cool picture. Great shot. I still have a ways to go with learning my camera in order to start thinking about taking lighting pictures - nice work!

07/16/2002 01:18:00 PM
Nicely captured. I've always wanted to try to get a lightning shot. I'll be interested to know how much patience it took to capture this one.

I really like this shot...Can we have details of how after the voting? I believe a tighter crop would have helped. 8 ... RLS
07/15/2002 11:29:00 PM
That's really cool. I wish it were closer and those red lights weren't in it. Love the sky. 7
07/15/2002 11:07:00 PM
This is wonderful, I especially like the light on the clouds and the lightening strike.
07/15/2002 10:16:00 PM
Thats a really good picture
07/15/2002 09:52:00 PM
wowza. very nicely shot. i'd prefer a tighter crop, but I know how difficult lighting can be to frame.
07/15/2002 07:34:00 PM
The amateur photographer and the amateur meteorologist in me agree: asbolutely perfect.
07/15/2002 07:31:00 PM
Good job capturing a difficult subject.
07/15/2002 07:00:00 PM

07/15/2002 06:56:00 PM
I still can't do this :( I click as SOON as I see the bolt and get a empty sky. For that I respect this photo not to mention for it's beauty:)
07/15/2002 05:14:00 PM
Nice capture and you lived to tell the tale. Good job, great color. Kee
07/15/2002 05:08:00 PM
this is not an easy subject to shoot and you've done an admirable job of it.
07/15/2002 05:03:00 PM
Very pretty colors I love it. Nice framing 10
07/15/2002 05:02:00 PM
This photo could be perfect when you post process the extranious lights.
07/15/2002 03:01:00 PM
I like this very much. Don't you just hate it that we can't crop the pictures?
07/15/2002 01:49:00 PM

Rare, and nice.
07/15/2002 05:31:00 AM
Would be interested in talking to you about night and storm shooting. Would a verticle framing have been better? 9
07/15/2002 03:10:00 AM
I love lightening shots and I know how especially hard they are to pull off with a digital camera.
