This is a wooden mask I found at the discount import store and was drawn to because of its dual nature. After photographing against black paper, the image was cropped, converted to grayscale, tweaked slightly in curves, converted back to RGB, tinted, sharpened a bit and then resized. I like how this turned out and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that others might too.

I am thrilled that this shot did as well as it did. As a newbie, this is my first "serious" shot and I was fortunate to have an interesting subject on hand. Thanks to everyone for their comments and scores. The talent and creativity on DPC never ceases to amaze me and I am learning so much from all of you, as well as being continually inspired.

This is one of those mask that could feature as part of a movie! Very characterful and stylised. A nice study too.

Wish the spot was cleaned off the happy face...and I may have swapped this around so happy was towards us, but that's ok. Excellent lighting, great shot. 9

he? A two way mask? Never seen anything like that before. Good lighting by the way. I just don't really like the seam showing at the back there and a couple of white dots on the image. But you can't really do anything about it without spot editing right. Otherwise a good submission!

This is a beautiful abstract. I love the shapes and texture here as well as the contrast. This photo is also a great example of where some minor spot editing capabilities would allow you to 'finish' the work for use in a challenge :) I know how difficult and frustrating this can be... still gets a 10 from me... great work :)

Well shot, light isn't too overpowering on the mask. Background is slightly distracting on the right.

I have this exact same mask (see my entry for black on black, if you wish, it's a picture of that mask)!!! It's a beautiful mask, and I almost used it for this challenge. Good picture too, this one. It's sad you couldn't do just a little spot editing (congrats for not cheating) and eliminate the table (?) line to the right and the couple white spots. 9 from me.

Good subject, I would like to loose the tiny white spots around it, but maybe darkening the shot would ruin the subject. Good crop and good "duo" use of the challenge.

need to hid the backgroun in darkness. Keep the light from hitting the black background. Good choice though
