Urd is a good friend of mine who decided to model for me. This is not the first time I've done nudes, but it is the first time I have done them in a studio. The lighting is provided by 3 Bowen flashes.

I am particularly proud of the lighting. There were some inperfections in the shot, but they were taken care of by help of the clone, healing brush and airbrush tool in PS.

The picture was taken on a blue background, and it was turned into black and white using the channel mixer, using approx. 70% red channel and 40% blue channel, and finally sharpened a little with USM.

isn't it against the law to take nudes of under age children? Or is she older than she looks. Great pic but kinda felt like a perv veiwing it!!!

Greets from the Critique Club:

Hi SharQ,

This is a really good nude. Everything is well lit and your contrast is very good. Technically, I think it is excellent.

I like the emotional and compositional side as well. Your model is sitting forward, engaging the camera and showing the world she is not afraid and is comfortable with her body.

The only annoyances are the missing toe mentioned by one of your commenters (not really a big deal), and the small triangle of light up in the top right hand corner.

Just all around good job! Best of luck with you future entries!
-Matt

I like the pose of the model and her expression, is very natural. Light and DOF are very good and good choice in BW
Good luck

I think you chose a great subject, great to see natural looking folks in the challenge. I think I would of like to have seen it with whole couch, though admittedly, probably wouldn't of worked at this sort of angle. nice job

Your model is very beuatiful :) This shot reminds me of a modern take of the very curvaceous women who used to be in vogue in the oil paintings.

Nice lighting and pose, but where did her big toe go?

With a smile like that, what else is needed? Good composition. Maintaining focus through-out must have been a challenge - well done.

I like it... The smile and facial expression are great. I don\'t know if it was intentional, but the highlights on the feet seem to lead my eyes from head to foot so I get the feeling of one entirely comfortable and content person. The diagonal on the left supports her head and shoulders, but the buttons seem a little too dominate relative to the rest of the photo (only thing I could find as a possible recommendation for improvement). I\'ll sure I\'ll keep looking back at this one.

So much of this photo I like - but the wide angle distorts the image. Proportions are changed. (I like that this is no supermodel - regular people are things of beauty and elegance as well!)

Well done all around. Nothing extraordinary or especially different/unique here, but a solid shot for sure.

Beautiful setting, pose, lighting, and the expression you've captured really makes this an outstanding nude portrait and brings life to the photo. The model connects with the camera in a way that is hard to capture, oftentimes. Congrats. Lovely. 9

way to go! absolutely charming. she's so natural... and that smile really communicates that mix of shyness and hapiness she's feeling.

This is a very nicely composed shot! I would have liked the whole couch/chair arm included but in the current setting that would have thrown out the dynamics of the shot, so you made a good choice to crop it. The subjects skin has a wonderful glow and the focus is perfect. I am glad you entered a shot which included a non pencil thin subject and I hope your score does not suffer because the shot is awesome.10

Correct (sadly) but that doesn't mean she isn't just as beautiful. I love her smile!
If I could vote i'd give it a 9... It looks like her big toe has been cut off!. :)

No, not average, classic and very cute. The light, focus, and composition are all very nicely done. Only negative is the panty line. Good good work here!

I don't usually like shots with extreme foreshortening along a person's length, but you make it work pretty well. Nice composition.

This picture has been nicely set, although her pose has not been set to accenuate her body features. Still it is a picture with great detail.

I like the comfort in this picture. no fear of the photographer or camera (a self portrait? i don't know) lighting is conventional, but technically very sound. this looks quite professional, though it lacks commercial appeal - by that I mean it would be wonderful if you knew the person in the picture, but beyond that, it's very portrait-like (which is not at all an insult, by the way...just not my style of picture). 7 (a high score for me this challenge)
