Taken during a 4-5 day phototrip around Iceland in July 2005. I'm not sure if this is my best from 2005, but at least one of my personal favourites...

Many thanks for all of your comments and favs..

Some people commented on the sharpening, I can agree and also disagree, because I'm using a calibrated crt monitor and images look more sharpened on most lcd screens... I did agree that it is a bit oversharpened when I saw it on my laptop though... I went as far I thought was ok with the sharpening on my crt monitor, maybe I should keep it in mind that lcd is taking over although I find a good crt more accurate in most cases..

In whole I do agree with the oversharpening, I was trying to let all the details shine through and with all the details I had to compress the file down to 60-65% when saving to get it under 150kb and that had ofcourse its affect on the final result.

About the comments on that this is over saturated, I think it's fair, but I wanted to bring out the colors like this, and maybe as always most people don't have their monitors calibrated. People's taste is thankfully variable and I appreciate comments what ever opinions people have about my work..

The comments now teached me at least one thing, I will try not to sharpen my photos this much after this for the challenges to come, many thanks for your comments again, they were helpful!

I was so overwhelmed during that challenge that I failed to comment. But I find that blue ribbon of a road very appealing as it weaves throughout the frame. It is the definition of leading line. The single rider is really empactful, even as small as he is. Lovely vista!!

Yup - it's been said already. Simple and impactful because of it - and your observation and effective use of long lens.

As a motorcyclist (a street racing one) I must say that I love a corner combo like this. It is wonderful how the road flows trough the scene and draws the eye along the rough scenery.
I had almost missed the lone cyclist. Altough I prefer walking (in nature, no paths) this kind of country must be bliss for a bicyclist. I hope he turned left to follow that path I see. It looks promising. 8

I absolutely love this picture. The first picture I've come across in the challenge that I added to my favorites.

I saw this in someone's portfolio. Don't remember who's but I was going to add it as a favorite. This is excellent all the way around. Wonderful colors. Great light and shadow. The road lines lead you right through the mountains! Perfect. I'm sure it will be at least in the top 10.

Awesome shot! I love the curves and how they lead me through the scene. Nice and sharp too! The saturation has been pushed to the point of making this look more like a painting than a photograph though. But, I like it a lot.

Very good division of the frame. I would h ave played around with the colours abit more, but you probably had your own vision for this pic so don't listen to what i have to say hehe. 8

The blue winding road really makes this image. Well-composed and nice contrast of colours that gives it the wow factor here.

Great shot. As I watch this image download from the top down, I'm thinking how good this is and it just gets better. I loved the final download section of this exposing the cyclist. Not the normal way that you might experience an image, but this one was fun to watch in that way. BTW, a 10.

Naturally, I have no idea where this is but I have to guess. If it's America, I say Utah. If it's somewhere else, I say Iceland.
As for the picture, nice composition but it seems a little oversaturated.

I think there's too much post-processing, it doesn't look real anymore which is a shame because the composition is very good

Beautiful composition. I only wish the cyclist were wearing something bright to stand out a bit more from the background. Obviously not something under your control.

This shot leaves me wondering what is around the next bend. The road is a perfect "leading line" in my opinion leading the viewer all the way through the picture.

this looks so Icelandic, the road close to Myvatn..
composition is good, the road leads the eye through the whole image, I'd like to see the biker just a bit further in the first bend, so he'd be on 1/3 section of the image.

Incredible composition here with a wonderfully beautiful scene. I think you may have over-sharpened, but with only 640 pixels trying to show so much detail, no way am I going to hold that against you. Colores are outstanding. 10

The tiny little bike rider just makes this photo! It's strong and striking as it is, but the bike rider gives even more of a perspective of the expanse of that scene. Great job.

A remarkable shot. Wonderful use of lines to lead they eye gently up the photo. The earth tones and textures are a feast for the imagination. The bicyclist is a perfect detail to tease the viewer. Congrats on a wonderful work of art.

Love how the curves of the road twist and bend. We can visually follow the path of the cyclist through the curvey mountain road. A shame that the cyclist was not wearing a vibrantly bold color that would make him pop off the dark black road - but that is not in your control.
