Maybe a stretch on "mother" It is a mother and her lamb but unfortunately I didn't get this picture about 3 weeks ago when the lambs were much smaller. But, still had fun working on it in PS and I like the textures in the ground and the wool.

Raw conversion, used a second coversion for the lambs dark face,
Cloned out painted brand and ear tag on mother sheep, dodge/burn a little on wool and ground,
Dup layer, gaussian blur around 12, masked out sheep,
Dup layer, soft light mode around 40% opacity
Crop and resize for web
add border.

My first impression of this photo is one of confusion.. I'm not sure why this didnt place higher. Its absolutley gorgeous!

THe compposition coudl only be improved by making teh Sheep dead center, but then you would lose the one sheet looking at the camera in the background.

Technically this is an excellent photograph. There is very little that you coudl have done to make this better. The lighting for the day was fantastic with no hot spots or any deep shadows. Your DOF is excellent and shows the two sheep with the herd in the background.

Gorgeous work! Like I said i'm confused as to whythis didnt score higher!

I love the deep color and contrast in this! Hit the thirds with each head in the top line axis. Good use of negative space to the right and bottom. Your choice on DOF makes sense...should go without saying, but hey - you never know. I'm guessing top 3 on this with a nice Red ribbon to add to your stats! Congrats in advance.

A nice animal shot. Perhaps just a tad dark, but not a big deal. The uneven line is a bit distracting in the background. 6

There's just something about this shot that I find very compelling. I'm just not sure what. I like the sharp detail of the two in front, and I love the dof, which works wonderfully here. I think it's the overall tone of the image that I like - it looks like it may have been taken very early in the morning - it just has that kind of soft golden glow. Very nice image.
