Thanks for all the comments. Yes the new Canon 24 - 105mm L lens does vignette quite badly when fully open. Easy to fix as a RAW in Adobe Bridge but didnt!

Fine finish for this deceptively simple, lovely image.

very cool

7 - Good angle. Nice colors. Criticism; your call, but if this were cropped tighter and perhaps just the starfish and water, making a more 'simple' composition, likely make this better (and the starfish pop more) in my opinion. Perhaps even just a little less sky, as the color is nice there too, not sure. More 'dominance' of the starfish likely also would have helped, especially for the Challenge. Nice as is, apart from the dark areas bottom left and right. Overall just seems a little 'dark'. Up to 7 from 6.

I like the point of view and composition. The starfish itself looks a bit too orange, but otherwise, nicely done and fits the challenge.

Nicely done. I love this shot. The coloring is right on, not easy to do. Perfect!

one of my top picks-
very strong image.

Great DOF. The centered starfisf suits and the proportions are good. The bright orange on the more passive tones looks great too

Very well done, a 9. Two things kept this from being a 10. Sensor dust and light fall off around the corners.

Simple composition, but works beautifully.

Wow, that is one clean beach! Darn it, why did you go and post this image, I am sitting here and the weather outside is really REALLY sh**ty and now all I wanna do is walk down this beach... :D

Anyway, love the simplicity and serenity, gave this an 8.

Beautiful contrasts here. Only thing I might have like to seen, is possibly catch a higher wave to get the starfish a little closer to the water. But thats personal, great capture

Beautiful. There is slight vignetting on the corners but not enough to distract. If anything, I'd suggest cloning out the white spot above the starfish and possibly the other larger spots near it. Gorgeous color, great placement of the starfish in the foreground. Lovely image. :)

Vignetting of low corners is somehow distracting. Nice picture anyway...6

This one I like very much. The contrast between the starfish and the beach is good and also the position of the starfish. The colours are beautiful and I like the stormy looking sky, a nice change from the sunny beach look. It also fits the title.

I studied this quite awhile before scoring. I went up and down, soaking in the coastal beauty. The tack sharp starfish really makes the shot, whether or not that was the title for the challenge or not. Lovely. 8
