* Greetings from the Critique Club *

Well here's a tough one... LOL First, let me congratulate you on not only a terrific image and finish, but an outstanding score for your first challenge submission! WOW! WTG!

Okay, I'll see what I can come up with for ya, but I think that the score and finish kinda speak for themselves here...

Composition:
Very interesting and visually appealing. It is not only unique, but also encourages the viewer to think about what it really is (as evident by the comments). My only nit here would be that the background in the upper right is a tad distracting (again as mentioned by other commenters).

Lighting:
Quite good. I think you did an outstanding job controlling the light considering this was an outside shot obviously taken during the day. Again, the only small issue I notice is the blown out area in the background of the upper right. Still, it's very small potatoes when taken into consideration with the whole. The natural light really brings out the natural color tones too - not overdone or oversaturated. Nice touch (I probably would have gone overboard here).

Focus/DOF:
Also quite good. You managed to keep the foreground nice and tightly focused with a comfortable DOF in the background. Not too shallow & not too deep.

Overall:
What can I say? Great job & congratulations again! You've set a pretty high bar for yourself now though - I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Please feel free to PM me with any questions and remember it's just my 2 cents...

Jimmy

When I saw this I thought that reminded me of a tree/plant back home in Oz. I checked your profile and sure enough it was!!! Well done especially with your first challenge entry.

Just shows that nature still knows how to display its finery - simple and delightful.

Nice DOF.

Cant get my eyes off of the background and trying to figure out what it is. I enjoy the image as the greens and the slight yellows stand out.

I don't know what it is but the pattern, changes in light make for a fascinating image. Love it.

Your subject makes a good abstract pattern, the colours and tones compliment each other well and the composition is interesting-well done

That looks awesome. Composed very strikingly. I love the contrasting colors and rows of shapes. Good luck with this one!

nice capture

a tighter crop without the background could have been more interesting IMHO

This is very cool! Nicely done.

It is a nice photo, certainly fitting the challenge, I am finding though the background in the upper right corner distracting. A tighter crop or getting closer to the subject at the time of taking the photo would improve it significantly. (6)

7 - Very nice. Criticism; difficult, not much, but this just seems it needs something extra to 'lift it', especially here at this size, so perhaps more height may have helped, depending what you had of course to work with, not sure. Maybe even, a frame in this case, who knows.

Beautiful shot.

Excellent photo. Simple, sharp & on task.

A good idea and thoughtful composition. The foreground needles look a bit blown out and the area at the top right of the frame distracts me a bit. Still, one of the better efforts I've seen so far.

Very Well Done. Might have called it "Natures Stadium seating" if it were me though! lol. But then, it wasn't me, so what do I know :D

Good Job, 9.
