This minor project was to have been entered in the cheating challenge but I discovered that my black background material was semi transparant. It was scrapped for the entry in that challenge.

I paid no attention to the free study and at 8 o'clock befote deadline I decided to do this image. I obtained some opaque material. Here is how it this effect is done.

You station a frame over the chair. You then run this material across and touching the frame and you cut a hole the excat size of the frame. You then make a black insert for the frame and you are set. I did it alone so I was forced to use the entire 30 second exposure.

You run the curtain across which exposes only the frame, which you can see through. You shoot, then cover the lens, remove curtain and place black insert in frame. You sit down and shoot.

lol. Some inquiries suggest mirrors. There is no way to do this with mirrors. You can see some examples in the mentor thread: Double expore.

You are indeed very tricky! I presume this is a multiple exposure. Glad to see you are wearing sunglasses to protect your eyes. Nicely done, bumping up!

This is a great twist on the popular "transparent laptop" trick, executed with characteristic grace and skill. As the alignment of the wall panels is perfect, I see that you must have accomplished this with another feat of careful masking over a lengthy multiple-strobe exposure. Another technical tour-de-force.

Whaaa! One realllly does a double take on this photo. At first our eyes just glance at this image and mentally "fills" in the missing portions of the man sitting at the chair and his arm - even though we notice the back of the chair is present where the other half of the man should be! Wonderful illusion that first tricks us, then on closer look we notice that something is amiss. By appearances, it looks like he is holding just an empty picture frame that shows us the guitar, wall, and chair behind him. But it is not - that is an illusion! Great composition and well executed shot. My only critique is that I think that the picture would be better if the man doesn't wear those sunglasses. I wanted to see a mischievious twinkle in the eye (as well as a slight smirk) at his knowing of pulling a trick on us.

Excellent shot! Very creative and well executed. One tine nit-picky thing is I'm not a fan of the shadow on the man's face and body. Other than that, brilliant!

First view reveals an interesting illusion created and the necessary alignment successfully completing the setup. However I find the lighting aspect the most interesting portion to study. The lighting of the framed image and the lighting of the whole image, in particular the casting on your jeans and behind your left shoulder.
Good luck on this illusionary and enlightening study. -8-

Very cool! Great effect, perfect lighting and alignment. The competition is steep though and I'm not sure this will do well against all those frozen trees, sunsets and sweeping landscapes. But "I" like it!!!

This is a great illusion. It took me a moment to notice what was going on. No real suggestions on improvement, fun shot, great creativity!
