It's interesting how sometimes you end up with a shot that was never meant to be :) I was shooting for the "Camouflage" challenge when I saw this Emerald Tree Boa all coiled up in her branch. The cage had one light coming from above. That was when the light bulb in my head turned on :)

This is the money shot! I love the textures and the colors of this 2 year old boa. I know some people get queezy about snakes but what's not to love about this beauty?

The Emerald Tree Boa, Corallus caninus, is a green snake with white bands. It lives in trees and shrubs near water (like swamps and marshes in rain forests). It is found in the lower Amazon basin (in Brazil) and in Guyana and Suriname. This snake has a life span of 15-20 years.

I just hope it does better than my Triptych entry.

The pattern & color you've highlighted really entrances me. Bumping up.

Out of focus. Especially that brown blurry thing right in the middle of the photo.

Not sure I'd want to be touched by this particular form of green!
Looks like some motion blur crept (excuse the pun!) in and spoilt what was otherwise a great shot.

Ahhh, a mamba snake! Well done - I hope it fares better than mine did in a different challenge.... Excellent representation and tones; well composed.

Somehow I want to invert the light so that the head is more exposed -- but still, very effective capture.

Great lighting and wonderful textures. I hate snakes and this one seems quite large. However you have satisfied the challenge requirements well and I think this is right on target. My biases aside, IMHO, this is one of the better entries in this challenge. Different. Camouflaged from the rest.

Took me a second to figure out it is a snake. I think if the snake's head/eyes had some additional light exposure it would have been a better shot but that's just me. Still a good dramatic shot.
