Took it just for the heck of it. Didn't think it would be a challenge shot, but it turned out great so I couldn't resist. Three of these were flying around, the other 2 had busted up wings so I worked hard to get this guy.

Lovely swallowtail, but it appears just a tad overexposed. I think a slight curves adjustment could really bring out the color and darken the background.

How did you catch this one with his wings open like this. You should get high marks just for getting the moment so well. Maybe there's a trick that I don't know to get them to do this, but I'm still impressed.

Maybe use a shallower DOF to make the butterfly stand out more. Great shot anyway.

Beautiful colors and awesome details! Great job overall -- I can easily see this as a top 10 this week. It may have been interesting to even make the DOF even more shallow, although it's certainly nicely done here! - 10

so, is this a real butterfly, or one of those papaer do-hickeys?, anyway, this is a very nice picture, well composed, with nice vivid colors, the bottom of the butterfly seems a little bit out of focus to me, but that could be my eyes,

Great capture. awesome colors and focus. How do you get so close without scaring it away?

I think this picture suffers from oversharpening...something makes it look a bit unreal. Good catch, though, and nice composition.
