I wonder how this would look in black and white....consider desaturating it and seeing if it enhances the moment. Also, I don't really get the title. It looks a pear...are pears "pourable?"

huh? also this is a little off theme, imo

Interesting concept, but sorry, I don't see the connection between this photo and the challenge topic.

Help, I don´t see the coffee shop!

The relationship between the subject of this image and the challenge topic seems very tenuous at best. The image is rather novel though, and the shot is reasonably well executed.

whats that to do with coffee shop
10/08/2005 10:35:14 PM
Uhmmm...if someone showed me this photo and asked me to guess the topic, I quite honestly would never guess "coffee shop" Therefore I have given you a low score.

I can see where you were going with this but to be honest I don´t really like the outcome, take that with a grain of salt though as I really HATE lens flare and in this picture it isn´t flattering at all IMHO. I like the idea though, having a sunset in the backround but next time I would suggest you meter the whole scene according to the sun so that it´s not as overexposed and use a flash to light up the spoon to get a more balanced outcome. Also, if I might make a suggestion I would compose this almost the same but have the sun in the lower right corner instead of the middle but I like the placement of the spoon. 4 from me this time but I encourage you to try something like this again and experiment more with fill flash.

I am not sure what this means and how it works with the challenge.

I totally miss the connection with "coffee shop" on this image... in fact I don't even know what I'm looking at here.

On technical merit the edges of the pear/spoon thing suffer some jagged edges (probably from JPEG). Perhaps Neat Image could get rid of those. Also, the halo in the top of the pear thing is distracting. In fact, the entire giant white blob in the lower center of the picture distracts from the main focal point, though I can also see why you framed this the way you did, it adds a lot of impact.

This is my second look at your photo and I am still confused as to how this meets the challenge. I don't see anything that even comes close to inferring that coffee has anything to do with your composition. If the challenge was about breakfast then I would have score it higher.

This is one of those wonderful shots that I'm not sure what to see in it - Love the colour and the content. I think I know what I'm looking at but I'm not sure. Each time I look up I see something new. this comment is unlikely to be helpful but ... I like the image.

I'm having trouble fitting this into the boundary of this competition, but aside from that the sun has blown out a good portion of the background. I think this shot could benefit from a smaller aperture to keep the background in at least slightly better focus and the sun a bit more tame.

Is the only connection to the challenge, Breakfast? Thats a pretty long streeeetch.

interesting choice of subject for this challenge, but certainly creative!

Don't get the connection to a coffee house. Technically, I think the ladel and pear should be more in focus, and there is too much glare from the sun.

Not sure how this meets the challenge. The picture is also out of focus.

Huh ??
10/06/2005 12:41:12 PM
Interesting shot but I don't get the concept.

Am not sure about this picture. Its a bit washed from the sun and not what I would expect from a coffee shop.

i keep looking at this photo, and can't quite apply it for the theme. it's such a neat picture, but perhaps more appropriate for a different challenge?

Looks like a pear in a ladle in front of a sunrise landscape shot.

What does this have to do with coffee?
