Challenge: On the Road (Classic Editing)
Camera: Canon PowerShot G2
Location: Hong Kong Pier
Date: Jun 9, 2002
Aperture: F 2.2
ISO: ISO 50
Shutter: 1/25
Date Uploaded: Jun 9, 2002

I went to an island holiday to take some photo for this week's contest. But there was not much to shot due to heavy rain. However, I spotted this scene on my way home. And I think this is amazing. So I crouched down, put the wide lens on, pick up my G2 and shot. And here comes the final product.

Great reflection, I wish the stop light wasn't in the frame though.

There are some really subtle things about this photo. It makes me think and explore it. Well done.

What does Sunday have to do with this picture? Good shot of the reflection but it the pink thing supposed to be there?
06/14/2002 11:08:00 PM
not a road

I like the concept, here. Since it is an "on the road" challenge, I wish the stop light was more the subject (more visible) than the buildings.

Great photo, would have worked nicely for "Upside Down" as well. :-)

nice abstract. the stop light is a tad distracting.

I love the reflection of the traffic light in the puddle.

Nice reflections. Different take on the challenge. Good job. It was probably not possible to avoid having the traffic light there, and you may have wanted it in the shot to tie this more to the challenge topic, but I find it distracting. It draws my eye away from the reflection and the color clashes with the rest of the more muted tones (and, yes, I know you can't just change the colors they use for traffic lights ;)

I'm not sure about the title but I like the image a lot.

Nice shot except for the bright reflection of the traffic light

Is this a late upside down submission :)

Good saturation

Very well composed photo. You'll probably be getting some comments from those who can't physically see a road, but that's their problem.

I think the idea behind this photo was good. If possible the photographer should have gotten lower to the ground to maximize the reflection. A polarizer would have helped a great deal also. The red thing in the middle of the reflection is a HUGE distraction. Another thing to maximize the contrast in the reflection. . .late afternoon or early morning light.

Super nice reflection. The red light is too pink on my monitor, but still clever work.

I don't quite understand the title. Great photo, though. I'll look at this again. I'm not sure if this is a road, or a sidewalk.
06/10/2002 01:58:00 PM
Is this a brick road? if so, there's not enough of it showing to let me know that it's a road. Where I am from, we don't have brick roads and I only see brick like this on an occasional crosswalk possibly. The photo graph in itself is very interesting but i think it's a weak interpretation of the challenge topic...

took me a minute to figure out what the stop light was. I really like the concept here, but something about it is nagging me. It's probably just me :-)
06/10/2002 12:15:00 PM
not sure what this is - the red thing

What is that pink thing?
