love this pic! great use of selective desat, i find the grain adds to to the atmosphere of this pic, i would of given it a ten!

Possibly the most artistic entry in this challenge. Congratulations on your 11th place finish.

Unlucky not to get a ribbon. Probably a bit too artsy for DPC but I love it.

I really like this, but the noise is just not working for me here. Was it on purpose? It seems you applied it after the b/w conversion, because it has color. To make sure this doesn't happen, you should apply it before ;-)
09/24/2005 09:28:40 PM
Great idea, but the noise does not help this one.
09/24/2005 11:35:49 AM
A graphical gem. grainy and stylish. 8
09/24/2005 10:59:57 AM
I wish the face was a bit less grainy, but love the shot overall
09/23/2005 01:43:31 AM
Grainy works perfect for this image and challenge subject. 10. My top pick for this challenge.
09/22/2005 11:55:27 PM
One of my favorites. This is well conceived and executed. I like the selective desat and noise. The over exposure on and around the phone take a little away from a great job.
09/22/2005 08:40:21 PM
this would be better if the noise were b/w too.
09/22/2005 04:35:31 PM
I like the pose, lighting and red lips, find it a bit too grainy for my taste.
09/22/2005 08:16:42 AM
Shame about the quality of this image as the thumbnail looked very promising. All I can say is that I strongly dislike the noise in this image and it ALMOST ruins it for me but the rest of the photo is very good. Normally I hate selective desat but it works very well here with the red lips and the composition is very good so even thought he quality sucks I still gave it a 5.
09/22/2005 07:42:11 AM
amazing frame, i really like it
09/21/2005 11:16:49 PM
This feels like a perfume ad....Nice
09/21/2005 08:13:22 PM
too noisey .... 5

How on earth did you get coloured noise in a b&w image? Strange... I like your image a lot, it has something very mysterious about it. 9.
09/21/2005 12:29:49 PM
maybe a little too grainy, works ok on all but the red lipstick which is a bit smeared
09/20/2005 04:50:48 PM
I absolutely love this photo. Maybe it's the touch of red lipstick. Maybe it's how beautifully feminine she seems. Maybe it's the nails. But whatever it is, it's amazing. Good for you!

I like the selective desat, lighting and the post/compostion is spot-on. Its a really shame about the noise. I think a bit of grain would suit the atmosphere the image conveys, but as it stand its a bit distracting. Good luck
09/19/2005 10:18:43 PM
Great idea and composition, butthe grain is distracting.
09/19/2005 06:58:02 PM
This is a picture where the noise helps. Hope you aren't getting busted on it too much. The selective desaturation is also nice. Bumping to 7 on second view.
09/19/2005 03:36:02 PM
The grainy effect with the flecks of color adds interest to this photo. Original.. nice.
09/18/2005 10:45:23 PM
Nice! Love the grain.
09/18/2005 09:11:01 PM
first place

I'm not a fan of the grain personally, but I do like the red lipstick - to me, it gives it a nice 1930ish feel to it.
09/18/2005 08:04:56 PM
This could have been a great shot. I don't know, but most like it is your camera--there is a lot of noise in this--so it detracts from the photo. Great composition--love the red lipstick.
09/18/2005 05:23:18 PM
10
09/18/2005 04:38:26 PM
hmmm- I like this but I have a problem with the color grain, maybeyou should try the monochromatic grain next time? It would make it more natural I think. Good image tho! :0)
09/18/2005 03:22:21 PM
Neat picture. A bit grainy but love how the lipstick sticks out.
09/18/2005 01:24:10 PM
Great idea, but the focus could be better (and I don't think it would hurt the mood) and the white around the phone is distracting
09/18/2005 09:20:24 AM
cool picture, but the grain is a trouble
09/18/2005 09:06:03 AM
like the selected desaturation -- a bit too grainy on the face imho, one of my favorites this challenge
09/18/2005 08:39:07 AM
I think I would have liked this better without all the grain. I am sure you did it (the grain) on purpose but the midtones are blown out (see hand and skin). This might have been more effective if it were color balanced, then converted to black and white, then add the red lips back in. Conceptually great but technically poor. Just my humble opinion.
09/18/2005 07:52:20 AM
Love the grain and lips. Sure adds to the mood.
09/18/2005 07:44:31 AM
Great hat! I like the graininess and the desat.
09/18/2005 05:37:39 AM
Nice grainwork and desaturation. Excellent composition.
09/18/2005 02:21:12 AM
This is sort of a cool 50's meets today with that cell phone. I'm not sure about the color noise, I feel like the shot might work better if it all but the lips were completly desaturated.
09/18/2005 01:40:32 AM
Nice composition and use of desaturation. I like the grain it makes your subject look mysterious and the bright red lips shows seduction. Nice lighting, focus and background. The only destraction to me is the fact I can see color noise especially in the face and hands. Would of been great if the noise would of lacked color/tint. With all that said your photograph is still great (8).

i wish it weren't so grainy -- i love the lipstick though
09/18/2005 01:04:56 AM
You have a good idea going here, and captured it pretty well. Altough I don't care for the pixel effect.
09/18/2005 12:16:56 AM
Great image has a real conspiracy feel to it. The grainy effect has really enhanced shady feel to the image.
I know the selective desaturation is the key to the image but I feel it could have stood up without it. I guess you tried it both ways and came up with this.
I hope you score well for the fact that you have used such a strong image to convay the message not the title
