Kinda tough for me to critique this one. I really liked this photo when I first seen it. Very deep and powerful. This shows amazing initiative and creativity. It looks like a very well thought out shot. Everything about this shot works for me. Focus, lighting and composition all seem to be perfect. The only thing I can find wrong would be his eyes could have stood out a bit more. Again this is a tough critique for me because I like it so much.

I like this very much, the placement of eyes, nose, mouth is perfect. It's a very "strong" portrait. One of my favourites in the challenge. (10)

I like the originality of the foreground! And the expression works well with it! The face does seem a bit lost lighting wise? Maybe a side lighting might have increased the contrast? well done

Interesting idea but not quite sure why it doesn't really stand out.

Nice image but to me a portrait should represent a raw depiction of a subject... yours although a great shot dosn't strike me as a true portrait... nice job... :)

This is a very interesting photo with a good concept behind it. I feel it would have been slightly more effective if the eyes had not been as dark as they turned out (at least per my monitor) He almost looks like he is wearing a Halloween mask from a distance. Still good composition.

I love, love, love the expression. You can see something "behind" his eyes. The highlights are a little too high for the dark background. (hey this should have been in the high contrast challenge...) 8

Amazing image. Good looking model with a great stare.. I love the lighting as well as the texture. However there is a lack of color and I'd prefer it without the fence.

Intriguing and unique picture. Love the black chain and the overall mood of the shot fits the models expression. Great pic.

I really like this shot and the obscured view is unique!! I wish you could have found a way to make the eyes a little less oscured ... I know that sounds a little contradictory, but the eyes could have made this pop.

Really interesting and not the expected portrait position. I like his freckled complexion. The eyes are deep and intense. I wish somehow you could have them so that the wires aren't covering them up - maybe moving slightly to the left or right? It has seriousness which I really like.

Very nice, off-beat portrait.. the gritty texture in the beard/mustache make the chain links work, imo.
