This is in an alley between two buildings. At the right time of day, the shadows of one building, and the reflected light from the mirrored windows on the other building converge and create this great random play of light on the ground.

Minor crop and rotation to get the suitcase straighter. Desaturate. Adjust levels. Unsharp mask.

I do not know why I rated this so low, I must have been having a bad day. This is really good.

I don't know what the title means, but this is so beautiful I'm giving it 10.

I dunno what the title means, but the picture is great! So spare, but so rich with possible stories.

Oh I bet you wish you could use this in the "Shadows" challenge. Nice moody feeling.

Simple graceful beauty. It's thick with opportunity for interpretation. Awesome.

one of the better shots in this challenge: artful, creative, well lit.

Yes, I'm a sucker for negative space. Nice lighting. I'm sure you have already recieved numerous comments about what a good entry this would be for next weeks contest, so I will refrain. ;?) Well done!

I am tired of seeing things "on the road" and I do not know why everything is so squiggly, especially the black, and what does that title mean?
06/11/2002 12:57:00 AM
ok nice

This photo not only shows a nice interpretation of being 'on the road'... It also, being in black and white, conveys a sense of solitude... possibly uncertainty as well... the light beam shining on the suitcase tells me that the journey down the unknown road ahead is being taken with caution... the uneven and dark lighting on the road ahead tells me that this journey may be a difficult and turbulent one, to say the least... This photo tells me a nice story... nice work!

I've tried to look this up...pyxis is casket or box....and I'm assuming this is latin....but anyway, I love the detail in this.

Very nice.

I like the artistic feel of this one. The light patterns on the road really make this one, and I trust that the latch was intentionally left open too. Good eye!

Great light, great shot. Love the tones. Perfect!!

I like the simplicity of this shot, and I think black and white gives it a feeling of a lonely traveler (dont know if that's what you intended or not). For my own personal taste, though, the suitcase feels a little too close to the left side and bottom for me. Doesn't change the quality of the picture a great deal, though, jsut a personal thing.

I have to admit that i don't know what the title means. But I really like this picture. How did you get that beam of light? The B&W is an excellent choice. Good job.

sweet! I love this. I also have no idea what the title means... (is it a constellation or something?) but, very nice job! 10.

Interested in knowing what the title means... Nice shot the lighting is awesome as is the feeling of lonliness/despair.

My favorite photograph of the week. I love the light and shadows on this. The texture is very good. Perfect choice for a b&w. Cant suggest anything I might change.
