Initial thoughts
Fantastic image with lovely clean background.

Composition/ Content
I really like both the content and composition here. I think the low perspective really shows off the wonderful texture of his scales and the subject really lends itself beautifully to b/w. I really like the shallow DOF though I’d like the focal point bought forward so that the tip of his nose/ mouth is in focus and the area that is out of focus starts slightly further forward on his neck – that would highlight the shallow DOF more though so it depends if that’s what you wanted to do.

Background
I love the background – although it’s beautifully clean and plain there are vague hints of shading and light which add interest.

Camera Work - Technical
Some of the whites are just a little too blown out for my preferences – particularly on his left “knee” and at the lower left of his face (to the right in the frame as we look at it).

Fits The Challenge
Excellently.

My Opinion On The Photo
I really like this image – I think it’s well taken and very striking.

Nice composition and subject. This critter seems to impart an attitude with its pose. I would have liked a little wider dof so as to have the complete head in focus (body not necessary, but tip of nose to neck would have been super!). Enough for the picky details..... Great job!

Great exposure on the shot. I would have loved to see his nose in more focus, and some more of his claws though.

Whoa! I feel like I could reach right out and feel the texture of this guy's ...well, whatever it is - skin, hide, horns, whatever! The lighting and composition on this are great. You've really managed to capture the "feel" of this creature so well. Very cool.

This is really cute! My only suggestion would be to get a more eye level shot. Definately makes me smile:)

Well, I have to say first that I'm a sucker for reptiles and other herps, so you have a head start right there! However, I also really think that duotones bring out the texture of this lovely creature better than color could have, so it matches the challenge very well. Great lighting and composition really make this a winning photo in my book. I'm sure I'll select it as a favorite when the challenge is over. Best of luck!

He looks so mean without the green! :) Nice tone and DOF -- I like the details that show a lot.

The crop is a little tight at the top, but the quality is excellent - 10

excellent work with the detail... this subject lends itself well to the duotone because of the nice texture and contrasts... great work :)

GREAT macro... this was through a screen correct? it looks like it was, but I could be wrong. Wow... the details are incredible on this little guy... I really like the sepia tone as well. There's a tad bit too much light on the tip of his nose, and on the shoulder that is on the right side of the photo, but otherwise this was done really well. -9-

I just love the texture you were able to get of this guy in your picture...not to mention the expression. The lighting and coloring is great...in fact everything about this photo is excellent as far as I'm concerned. 10+ Good luck in the challenge...hopefully I'll see you in the top three

I think this is the winner! How did you manage to get so close to this magnificent creature? The clarity and light and compositon are all excellent. 10
The title is good, too.

Nice shot. I wish there had been a touch more DOF. The critical area of focus needs to contain his snout, I think, and on through the eye line. The textures in his skin and the tone you have achieved are just wonderful.

lol. Looks a bit cranky. Great fuzzy background and crisp subject. Jacko.
