The scar is from scoliosis surgery when I was 14. I’ve always been very self conscience about it. I did this picture on Sunday as a last minute thought. Figured it was time to show my imperfection.

Ouch! Thank you for sharing. You, my daughter and all other people with scoliosis are special!

Ah! HERE it is. I saw this shot a long time ago and lost track of it. It was very brave of you to post it, so I'm making it a favorite. :)

I like this a lot. It says more than some of the other images. There's a whole story here. I love the way the scar is echoed by the lines on the wall. The highlights are a little harsh, but somehow it adds to the mood.

Good picture. I especially like the way the scar is complemented by the backgroud scarring on the wall. Good balance. The lighting also sharpens the intent.

Ouch! Must have been quite a surgery. I find the background interesting and symbolic. Nice choice.

Ouch. That must have been painful. At first I was thinking this was to contrasty, but now I think it's a good choice. It adds the the mood of the picture and makes the scar the main subject. I like the repeated line in the cememt wall. Good job. I think I'll bump this up. gl

Powerful image - I like the parallels to the left.

This is dark and reflective. I think you did one heck of a job with this shot. Good luck!

ouch! good idea. look at the negative space, something is a little distracting, not sure what I see. great lighting.

Ouch.
Lighting is quite blown out on the left. I like to think of nudes as subtle contours and in B&W unlimited shades of grey. High contrast doesn't help IMO

Lighting here makes it difficult tell what this is about.

interesting idea. I don't think it quite worked though. Different angle of lighting? more diffuse lighting?

a good photo, though the lighting in some spots are over exposed.

Good use of background to accent and compliment the model'sscar. Good lighting, shadows, and contrast. Nice crop too, very effective.

Lighting is interesting, if perharps a little 'uni-sided'. I feel the loss of the right side of the body to the darkness is a nice idea, but it is unfortunate that we can still see it. background is cool (ciment?) and makes for a good difference with the body. Frame is a bit too present and doesn't offer enought 'room' for the picture. 6

I like this image..the wall has a line that mimics the shape of the scar and is a good counterpoint to the image.

i get it.. really I do, it's just that a lot of people don't read the titles!
Anyways, let me tell you why I marked this at a 6. The photo is not entirely in focus- in fact it seems like the background is. your highlights are very washed out pertaining no detail. I am in no way an expert but it's your lighting I'm pretty sure- way too bright. the background and composition are both great. but your whole photo is the scar and it is very contrasty where you'd want to see it clearly. It looks like you put time into this photo and it does convey emotion... if you get it ;0)

That is a huge scar. I like the contrast of this photo. I commend you for taking a nude portrait, even more so if it is a self portrait. Great job.

Interesting photo and composition. IMHO the focus is abit soft and the highlights are blown out. 6

I "THINK" I see the scar. I think higher detail would have really made this a powerful shot. Knowing the reason for the scar might also be benificial to us to really understand it's meaning. I'd really like to see this one lightened up after the challenge.

i like your backdrop a whole lot. Very industrial. The lighting down the spine confused me - took me a while to see the male back.

Difficult to see what I'm looking at... the lighting is too harsh IMHO and the highlights are blown

not visually appealing to me personally, and i think the lighting is a bit too harsh.

this is a little on the darker side, perhaps intentionally? the most interesting factor i found was how the scar seems to be mimicked on the texture of the wall as well. i scored it veritably high, there is something raw and exposed about it that made it unique to me. 9.

Light reflections take away from concept, since they interfere with a clear view of your subject.

I like this composition with the scar about on the 1/3rd mark, and the left shoulder running down the center. Good harsh lighting and I like the grain in the background and subject.

Highlights seem way blown and the image is just not appealing. I do hope whatever it was has healed though. Good luck.

What a strong image. The shadows playing with the light, the repetition of vertical lines in the background with the scar. Really nicely done.
