My Son Jeff is an excellent guitarist. About 2 years ago he picked up a banjo and hasn't looked back. He is an outstanding Banjo player which is hard to find in the younger generation these days. He especially enjoys the really old country blues artists. When I saw this challenge it gave me the opportunity to try to capture my son's talent in a unique way. He was very patient with me as I have not attempted to do very many artistic portraits previously. I really like this one. It will always be special.
The picture was taken in an apparently burned out and abandoned home in the country. It was slightly cropped, increased contrast, saturation, and sharpness.

Wow, Its always a thrill to win a ribbon. Even more so this time because it was a special picture for me. It will definitely be hanging on the wall. Thanks to everyone for your wonderful and helpful comments.

The overexposure on the ground below the window is unfortunate, because it grabs the eye and seriously detracts from what is otherwise a lovely image.

Love it! What a fabulous location. The only thing is it looks a little too staged, maybe if he had been standing, I don't know but great job!

The harsh lighting on the floor makes it look oversaturated. Otherwise a fine image!

I like the attempt at this one. The setting is dramatic. The subject is a little overblown (in his banjo and the lighting on his hand). The hat is a nice touch. I like it enough to overlook those technical faults. 8.

Beautiful shot, but doesn't say live music to me. I would laugh him off his window posed like that.

Lovely setting. Nice light. Maybe the floor is a tad distracting. I might leave it out and concentrate more on the guy and the beautiful window.
