This was an elaborate setup. My friend Grant got on my roof and sprayed me with a hose. He also was equiped with a large and extremely hot (temp) light with no handle. I had three background light setup behind me with my SB-800 flash blasting from the right/back side.

Editing: Small cloning, levels, curves, crop, USM, NI, the works.

this is really unusual, avant garde. I like it. The translucent shirt really works.

It would be just ghastly to wind up in this guy's shoes.

interesting. not sure what you did to darken the sides but if you did it in ps that might be a major element. but cool effect either way.

did you spray this poor guy with a garden hose? this is obviously a staged shot... no worries, i comment even though the images are staged... the right side is blown a bit and that tiny flicker of his right hand is a bit distracting... maybe if you burned the image on the left then the highlights wouldn't be as dramatic... my eye tends to move to that direction in particular... 6

Interesting composition and subject. I like the light vs dark you've got going on. The lighting is intriguing from behind. Nice job.

VERY COOL. I love your use of light. Good movement and stop action

Upon 2nd review, this is still one of my highest ranked photos. And the title is so appropos. I'm a lover of the dark shots and this is an outstanding example. I'm curious to find out how you did it. Way to go.

Highlight on head distracting, model looks more pensive than bored, however excellent use of rain and overhead lighting, how did you do that?
