Was looking out into sky while shutter was open and didn't notice any lightning strikes. Was very surprised when I saw this on the LCD screen afterward!

Um, for everyone who was wondering what the "grid" was, it was a window screen. I didn't exactly get 1000 tries to get this pic, so I hadda use what I got, which was a shot thru a screen...

Thx for the kind comments!

good timing!

this is a kool pic, but it looks as if it was taken through a screen

Good job catching the lightening strike! The screen door adds an interesting sort of pattern to the photo.
06/08/2002 11:41:00 PM
I am SO impressed that you captured this...too bad the screen was in the way, though.
06/08/2002 12:21:00 AM
Wow. Awesome shot, especially with a digital camera!
06/07/2002 05:56:00 PM
Unless this is a picture of a picture, you have great timing. I wish the mesh wasn't there, but still.....wow
06/07/2002 04:53:00 PM
WOW, (needs to be repeated WOW!!) {{through a screen door?}} Don't think I like the screen pattern, otherwise PERFECTION!!!!
Photo 10 Creativity 10 B&W 10 total 10 (isn't there a number higher than 10?)

What a shame about the wire mesh on the window. (That is what it is isnt it?)
06/06/2002 11:50:00 PM
good catch. what's the pattern? is that the window? it does detract as im sure you know. still, you done good :)
06/06/2002 10:22:00 PM
This would be a perfect 10 if not for the lines on it. I tried to catch this very thing the other afternoon and ummmmmmm it's not easy ! Nice job:)
06/06/2002 02:10:00 AM
wow. did you capture that or is this on tv? if so, ph33r.
06/06/2002 01:37:00 AM
Very nice catch! It seems to be through a screen, which is a bit distracting, but still...
06/05/2002 01:10:00 PM
Great timing
06/05/2002 10:17:00 AM
I'd love to catch a shot like this.
06/05/2002 04:19:00 AM
a little ripper!
06/04/2002 11:54:00 PM
Nice catch, and a perfect B/W choice, but the pattern of the screen detracts.
06/04/2002 11:14:00 PM
Was this taken thru a screen?
06/04/2002 10:52:00 PM
Awesome, wish it wasn't taken through a screen - or is this textured that way on purpose? Great capture though!
06/04/2002 08:39:00 PM
Opening the screen would have made this shot a lot better IMO. Also cropping so that the lightning is not right in the center would have been my personal choice.
06/04/2002 10:47:00 AM
uh, is that the screen we see????
06/04/2002 03:10:00 AM
whats up with the odd crosshatching effect?
06/04/2002 01:20:00 AM
Nice capture! Do you know what's making the pattern effect I see in the sky?
06/03/2002 11:49:00 PM
i'm guessing this was taken through a window or screen door. maybe that look is intentional, but i think it would have been better without it - it's a distraction to me.
06/03/2002 07:52:00 PM
nice catch!
06/03/2002 07:48:00 PM
Nice pic
06/03/2002 05:21:00 PM
Very cool
06/03/2002 05:13:00 PM
This is EXCELLENT. I am going to try this myself at some point this summer. It looks like you shot this through a screen window maybe? This shot is indeed awesome and would be even moreso without the screen... great job!
06/03/2002 04:26:00 PM
Great lightening strike. What's the mesh background from?
06/03/2002 03:41:00 PM
Kool title, nice capture.
06/03/2002 03:28:00 PM
I saw a few of these storms in Florida last week. Nice catch!
06/03/2002 02:49:00 PM
Nice capture!
06/03/2002 01:59:00 PM
man, if it wasn't for the screen showing up so much in front of it, I would give this a 10.
06/03/2002 01:40:00 PM
First, you did an amazing (almost unbelievable) job catching this motion, completely in-frame. Second -- did you try taking any shot with the screen in focus and the lightnight not? I'd like to see those if you did.
06/03/2002 12:34:00 PM
Are you looking out a screen door? Why the uniform checkeredness? Otherwise it's amazingly done.
06/03/2002 12:12:00 PM
What's with the diagonal shadow? Detracts from the picture I think.
06/03/2002 11:46:00 AM
this is a great shot.. it would have been spectacular if not shot thru the screen.
06/03/2002 11:24:00 AM
And I hope you are sitting on an insulated stool or something. Nice shot, I look forward to the "Details/Etc:". What is causing that wave effect?
06/03/2002 03:25:00 AM
Whats those grid things?
