I am thrilled so many of you enjoyed this photo. I really had no ideas that were manifesting themselves, so I just took the standard shot of my daughter under a hose. Did some major cropping and contrast as well as desat. Turned out to be real out of the box for my traditional style. 19th place is great for me, I've only been on dpchallenge a few months and feel that I've learned so much from the artists here.

Thanks for all the high votes and support!!

Crop, desat. Add grain, adjust contrast, dodge and burn eyes, sharpen, add border.

Didn't get the ribbon I thought you deserved, but a pretty nice finish, congrats.

great image. Look and feel of high contrast creates a timelessness that the composition enhances.

I like the way you set up this picture..the position of model in frame is unusual and interesting.

This is a very cool shot. Great negative space, great subject & pose, the rain really works. Fabulous!

edit - I rated this a 10 to come back to later. It has an unplaceable quality, a special photo, I think. This is one of my three picks for a ribbon.

I like this shot. Just think her shoulder is a little too bright.

This is almost a high key shot but not quite. I do like the symmetry of her face against the overall composition. Nice capture of the rain drops as well. 6

Nice action shot of the rain. The water drops at the end of the gal's hair adds a nice touch. I'm just not a big fan of half shots.

I really like this capture. The focus is great and the crop does wonders. B/W really adds to the impact. The only problem I see is the skin blown out below the clavicle, perhaps a little burning would help that. Other than that a wonderful photo. Guessing this is CalliopeKel's girl...

Looks like the same little girl that's in a color shot. I like the composition a lot, but the blown highlights are a distraction.

Love the black and white, croping is also well done. maybe a little more buring of the shoulder/neck area, so that it is simillar (in appearance) to the face.

This is certainly one of the more striking images of the challenge. The cropping is an excellent choice. Sorta spooky......hmmm.....where is Nicholson?? Good luck!

I thought I'd already commented on this. I love the half face and the great use of contrast. The dark of the eyes is great. Very clear sparkle which I like. Nice drips on the hair. GOOD JOB.

Nice portrait. The best of the 'kids in the rain' entries IMO

Super tones and bold cropping make for a very unusual and engaging photo here! 9

Looks overexposed rather than high-key. Great shot otherwise.

I like your crop and use of negative space. The high contrast black and white also works well. Also like the lines created by the rain drops falling during the exposure. Nice job!

heh,
you know, I had planned to do something almost exactly like this, escept with lots of eye liner...
Either way, very beautiful! I love how you framed her and the isolated rain drops. Her shoulder area is blown out tho, but I really don't think it detracts much from the image. Would have been interesting to see the original colors, only desaturated to mute the tones, or maybe with a slight bluish tint to emphasize the rain factor. Anyway, I hope you do well!

Nice half portrait, I am drawn to the eye which is good and I see the water at the same time. Good shot 10
